I'm sick of Eircom and their constant choking my connection, looking at smart and BT? any recommendations anyone?

I am with BT last two years or so, no major issues except for once when everything went wrong for them. There's a lot of complaints about their billing though - apparently a pain to deal with.

Smart broadband is not available in Drogheda (just checked to be sure).

Yeah just noticed that about smart, do you use much p2p stuff or play many games?

I switched from eircom to BT about 2 years ago as well, have had no problems (billing or otherwise). Don't p2p or gameplay online though, just regular surfing!

If you haven't already had a look, check out www.callcosts.ie which compares the costs of the various services available. Might help the decision!

I don't game online either - though I might do try it soon though..! Regular surfing, work over VPN etc.

A rather timely leaflet in the door today, ICE broadband, €49 pm for a 3mb bundle or something like that, and a chance to buy an Acer ultraportable for €199 when you sign up etc. Doesn't look all that interesting tbh. Meanwhile Eircom is offering free calls to meteor etc for €49 pm.

I switched from Eircom to BT a long time ago. Have had not problems, my speed is at minimum 6 megs a sec and is always constant.

Have no complaints with BT. Eircom are crap in so, so many ways. As an I.T. specialist in the Drogheda area I get daily complains about them and have done so for years.

BT I would definitely recommend if your in the Drogheda area.

I'm on BT in Bettystown (close enough...) - no complaints from me and a lot cheaper than eircom too.

I'm with BT. They had major problems connecting me to the grid (3 months of near daily phonecalls). That said, once they fixed that horrendous problem they've been fine. Good signal quality and reliable.
