Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can someone advise if a guard can take monthly payments off you on a fine, I was told they can, anyone ever made monthly payments off a fine. Just curious really. Not asking for legal advise

erm... firstly, you don't pay fines to the guards.

There are situations where a judge may allow fines to be paid in instalments if hardship can be proven.

Does your hypothetical situation involve a fixed penalty notice for a driving offence?

Thats not quite correct Steve, In the event that you do not pay the fine to the Court House within the time allotted a Penal Warrant is issued, which the Gardai execute by collecting the fine.

They are not supposed to take it in installments, ;) if you follow

There was a unofficial way of paying fines by installments, but they got rid of it due to unfounded fears/rumours about the Gardai pocketing the money. This caused choas for the people you used it and now they are thinking of bringing back paying by instalments. Was an article in the Indo(I think) about this recently.

Thats not totally true. I have been able to make several payments in relation to this fine which I first posted and I am aware of others who have done the same
