We run an intranet based app at work as our main software package for users and we are looking to implement a tool that would allow us to monitor items such as Server/Network/Database Performance and Storage. We are experiencing slowdowns at random intervals which cause us nothing but grief so we need to try and work out where the bottle necks are happening.

So to all the hosting heads out there, what do ye use? Our app runs on a LAMP setup.

You could play around with MRTG. It will monitor and report on anything SNMP capable and is quite handy. I'm sure there are plenty more out there though, but this early I draw a blank :D

Edit: Nagios can be a great tool as well.

Use a combination of Cacti, MRTG,Nagios and NagiosGraph to monitor absolutely everything.

before trying to install some all in one wonder monitor have the sys admin do his job find the bottle neck and sort it.

then look at something to monitor the server on going but rarley will an ap solve this issue for you as it's normally some badly written code or a DBA who doesn't know how to design a DB
