Problems with my Palm Treo 500v.

    Hey everyone,

I hope this is the right place to post this issue. I have the Palm Treo 500v mobile phone which it seems is exclusive to vodafone. I changed from vodafone to meteor last week and I got a new sim card and everything worked fine. However I cannot access the internet now because I do not have the right settings. I have rang meteor and they keep telling me that it is not possible to get them for my phone as its a vodafone phone. They told me to ring the manufacturer in England to sort it out or else switch back to vodafone. I got really annoyed as the girl in the shop never mentioned this problem. Are meteor just fobbing me off now that they have me as a customer or is there really no way to get the settings?

When I go to enter the settings I am asked to put in "description", "connects to", "access point", "user name", "password", "authentication type", "primary dns", "secondary dns", "ip address". Can anybody shed some light?

Did you ever get this sorted out?
I've just got a Palm Treo 750V and run into exactly the same problem with Meteor.

You can find the Meteor APN settings for Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, which is quite close the OS on your handset, in the handset section here. Just select the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1i.

First off I don't think it's fair to knock Meteor for being unable to support a phone that they don't even sell.

How technical are you? The basic settings are as follows:
    ISP GPRS
    Profile Name: Meteor ISP
    Connection Type: GPRS
    APN: isp.mymeteor.ie
    Username: my
    Password: isp
IP and DNS are supplied on connection.

Try http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?t=67428 - it's to set up a 750 on 3-UK, just use the settings as examples and exchange them based on the boards link above. Easy :)

    It's a WinMob6 device - look around at others.

    Yeah, those settings should do!
the treo is a wm phone, so Meteor cannot sent you settings that set themselves automatically as on java or s60 phones. You have to enter them manually!

Indeed, what can you ask from Meteor, if they never even had that phone?
Well: the settings are basically the same for all phones, so they could have emailed you the standard settings to enter manually! But...

lol, I'm not knocking Meteor - I don't work that way. If I had an issue with Meteor, I'd have switched to Vodafone and not bothered to ask the question :)

( Yes, I should have said I had a problem with my Palm 750v...)

    & Thanks for the info

I have the palm treo 500v working fine on 3, just put in the settings manually.

The phone, although branded vodafone, isn't locked to them.

Neither is my palm tro pro... Palm are very anti-lock! They consider their phones business phones for people who do a lot of travelling - and being able to switch sims is a useful feature! That's why their network-exclusives usually only last a few months...
