Now that I've your attention :p

I've built a couple of PCs over the last 5 years some from scrap had lying around others, pretty high performance gaming machines, but the one thing I always never understood was what EXACTLY makes good RAM, what are you looking for, timing, freq (obviously amount) DDR2 vs DDR3 blah blah blah.

Since a 1Gb stick of RAM just failed on me (I had 1Gb x 4) I've been in the market for a new one. MoBo is ddr2 so I'm gona stick with that, but I'm wondering 6400 vs 8800 vs 8500 vs 9200 of 2 x2Gb? Timing of 4-4-4-12 vs 5-4-5-15 and so on.

    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Rattlehead
