So are we going to hear about every single show on BBC now that merits a complaint calls and see what presenter to hang next?

Is there a cut off point? 10K complaints perhaps?

It strikes me that perhaps the media is targeting the highly paid BBC presenters or there is another agenda going on here. I don't know.

But its like they were waiting for this major Sachs issue, which I believe was out of order, to tackle a bigger agenda.

I think most people are mature enough to sense when a presenter goes over the top.
I would venture to suggest that most of Brands "fans" never paid a brass cent to the running of the BBC or most anything else for that matter.
Clarkson is paid ,I presume, to test cars and to make programmes about cars.

Forgive me if I am less than overwhelmed, when he tries to peddle his views on real issues out there. Stick to the cars sunshine, leave the social and political issues to those who are objective enough to articulate them.

Is there some sort of club made up of people who gnerally hate the BBC and want to complain about every fcuking show. Only a few awhile ago people complained about Eastenders, then they complain about Brand and Ross's Radio prank and now this about Clarkson. Honestly do these people not have lives or something?

Yes. Was worse in the Thatcher years.

This thread is full of trolls. Surely.

Just because you have alday to post treads doesn't give you the right to call people Trolls. TV should not depict, slander or offend people on a personal level. This idiot did and condoned it too. Live presenters should bare this in mind and think about what they are about to say and pre-warn guests about conduct.

I have every right to call Troll. I also have the right to call Shenanigans. Even in treads [sic]. I have alday [sic], as you say.

Good lord. No facepalm is epic enough. What a dreary world we would have if TV was like that. No Brass Eye, to name but one.

Clarksons comments were funny - People have too much to complain about. It was the same with Brand and Ross - Only 2 people complained at the time that their radio show went out, it was only after the media blew it out of proportion that everyone else piped up, I'd bet most people that complained hadn't even ehard the show.

Maybe I should have said Live TV, but all in all I do believe it was wrong. The BBC only suspended him to bow to the media, for which I think is wrong. He should have been axed. Surely there are grounds for which guests must adhere to. Some sick people may have found it funnny but just think about that poor girl and he father whose carreer has filled so many with many hours of enjoyable entertainment. Should he brunt this piggary, self centered crap from an arrogent overpaid pair os asshol*s??

    +1

These guys tend to lose the run of themselves after a while as they believe they are above basic rules and mistakenly believe they are authorities on all aspects of life and can use a publicly funded utility to do so, without any reaction!!

Heh he if anything shows how out of touch with reality they are that does.

These people are no better than you or I, yes, they are on TV/radio,but never fool yourself that they know one whit more than you or I about affairs of life.Let's not build up these muppets into something they are not.

    Wake up people.

Anyone who watches Top Gear should know the kinda humour involved. And seriously, who get so annoyed about something on tv that they can be a**ed to find out the phone number to complain?

Madness. Sure its not like hookers are real people anyway.

One way of looking at it is it was just a provocative and tastless joke. Even then its just a bloody joke. Does anyone actually believe that he seriously intended to assert that truck drivers typically kill prostitutes?

The other way of looking at is as a satirical mockery of a commonly held stereotype of truck drivers. The joke was on us, as it were.

Either way I think you will find the majority of people either weren't in the least offended and simply don't care. I think the viewership of TG is around 7 million. Out of those, 500 people with nothing better to do made complaints.

    lets get this straight.

Are you suggestiong that people are not entitled to complain if they are offended?
Do you think that viewers should bow down before these people and just accept anything they come out with??

That's not true in all cases. Some of them make in a night then most would make in a month.

By all means complain, that is one's right. Having said that I think there is something pretty sad about getting so upset over something like this to actually go to the trouble. Furthermore, blowing the whole thing out of all proportion is quite pathetic. I think the truck drivers' and indeed the prostitutes' lives will continue as before, Truckin' and fvckin', regardless of anything Jeremy Clarkson said.
