I bought a 3 Series BMW coupe, I was looking for an M sport coupe and bought one which was advertised as such and had asked was it a proper M sport to which the dealer said yes and that it wasn't a retro fit. Its a 318Ci, the log book says BMW 318Ci Sport, is this actually an M sport or have i been done?

    Hi,

I'm not sure if its the 3 series is the same case as the 5 series bimmers, but all the sport 5 series have an anthracite(blackish) headlining non sports have a light coloured headlining.

    What makes you doubt??

    Presuming it has;

    M-Tech II aerodynamic package
Double-spoke (Styling 135M) cast alloy wheels
    18 x 8.0 front with 225/40R-18 performance tires
    18 x 8.5 rear with 255/35R-18 performance tires
High-gloss shadowline trim around the windows
M-Suspension (slightly lower & stiffer than std. car/park beside another)
    M-Door Sills
Sport seats in Alcantara/cloth combo (optionally in leather)
    Anthracite interior headliner
Thicker ///M 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel in perforated leather or Alcantara with fingertip cruise, audio, and accessory phone controls
Short & weighted ///M shift knob
    Aluminum black/silver cube interior trim

Obviously much of the above will depend on year; above is based on the E46

Just would have expected to see M SPORt on the log book, just concious that you can retro fit all the trim, but the suspension could be the bog standard.

i am not trying to be smart but if you could not tell if the car was m sport by looking at it or driving it...... why did you want it?

i have never driven one before so i wouldn't have anything to compare it to, don't want to get stung on the resale value and ensure i got what i paid for hence my question

Yes the interior roof, above your head.

Most of the other sport extras are easy for someone to retro fit the headlining would be alot of bother so its rarely done, not impossible.

The only way to be sure is with the chassis number though, ring BMW and they will tell you.

ì owned an e36 msport myself from memory it said 318 is sport
it all depends on how the car was initially classified by the people in VRO.
    I wouldn't worry about it

Msport is just a "spec pack" isn't it.
