This forum will exist in it's current state for only a short time.

The politics mods will consult and hopefully this forum will be revised as a dedicated US politics forum.

Until then, let us reflect on a new era and wonder at this prophetic article from January 2001 : here

Get a good idea around 1.30 onwards. Florida closes at 1am (GMT) so by 30 min after that along with other states, will be a very good indicator.

TOO CLOSE TO CALL AT CLOSE: FL, IN, OH...
    MCCAIN KEEPING AZ... DEVELOPING...

Voting disticts have already begun closing in parts of Indiana and Kentucky. The last Voting station will close at 1AM EST, in alaska.

    http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/poll.closing/

Click on the Exit polls tab in the flash object to get that data. etc.

    www.BBC.co.uk
or the abc news website: http://abcnews.go.com/

RTE live news service tonight on the net: http://www.rte.ie/live/

If true, disappointed at the ABC exit poll results: (BLACK VOTERS ACCOUNTED FOR 13 PERCENT OF ALL VOTERS; ONLY SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN IN 2004)

they make up less than 13% of the population.

The BBC 1 coverage has only been on for about 3 minutes but i'm already liking it more than Sky News.

    !?

What's wrong with having as many people show up as possible?

I think it's a good thing if there's a high turnout across all demographics.

    NTM

Between BCC & Sky News and online.

They are flooding, (running) into the park in Chicago already.

Watching that. It won't take long for that park to fill up.
I noticed the glass (bullet proof?) protection screens around the stage.

Yeah, reports of gangs causing trouble regardless of the outcome, I dont really blame them. If Obama does get though get ready to see the most highly protected president ever.

By the way this map is good, I generally dont really like sky news, but when it comes to timely reporting, they will update their site really quickly
    http://news.sky.com/skynews/Interactive-Graphics/US-Election-Results

The state of play (current) and past elections, will give an idea of traditional republican/democrate states. Really good.

400/1 for Biden to be next president. Plenty of people have been shot for less :P

I have to say though, in the slight chance Obama didn't win, I'm hoping someone records the news footage from Chicago:P

Charlie Bird said when Obama is giving his speach later he's going to be behind a wall of bulletproof glass lol. Not suprising really.

Aye the whole stage is covered by the glass.
They were showing it on sky news.

Haha Charlie Bird and his prophecies, not far off the mark though.
Just less than ten minutes to go before polls close in more than sixteen other main states. Keep an eye on that map, and have some tea in the interim :)

    All predictable so far.
