Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Guys
Divxplayer.nl are selling the Dvico tvix multimeadia player 6500 v2 with 1TB Hard Drive for e449 ,the same player with older firmware V1 is e749 from Pixmania. This is the mother of all media players and will play any video or audio files thrown at it.A friend of my ordered one and it was delivered in two days, would buy one myself but I already have a popcorn A100.

Not sure what shipping is but suspect its reasonable otherwise my friend who purchased the TVIX 6500 would have moaned about it.I have a conceptronic NAS media server and am not to happy with it.The fan is very noisy which is not good news for a media server and anything with a highish bit rate does not stream well, however it is not the model you are looking at which does seem reasonable, however I would urge caution at devices like this that claim to do everything, you will find that a lot of files like h264 are not supported also the powerline adaptors will be European 2 pin.I would do some homework (check MPC portal and try and get a review),as I said in the first post the 6500 is a first rate player and can stand over the quality of it!

The Conceptronic Media Giant Plus is available from Komplett for €290, another €11 over divxplayer but depending on postage may work out cheaper.

Customs would be an issue though. Considering it nonetheless.

Cost me €19 extra in Customs - order a hard drive from an EU supplier

    Can't recommend it highly enough

the popcornhour is also a good buy you will get caught by customs if ordered direct so savings debateable and if you have problems you have to ship back to them and run the risk of double customs

i have earlier version not too sure on what has been added to latest version and it was flawless some of the NMT stuff was a bit buggy but i never use them anyways

but consider it and its software a work in progress for instance no power off button on the version i have but it will play everything you throw at it and with a HDD installed you have a NAS. i only installed hard drive to test for noise and it was barely audible. i streamed everything from main pc to it

having also used the dvico 6500 i am now using the 7000 model which is far superior in every way and has a lot more features but again you are paying a premium for it

by the way i paid close to 400 for the 6500 when it was released without a hard drive

either option is much better than any of the argosy offerings from ibood

Would it not be better to just have a big ole network drive and connect your laptop to your telly? Works out brilliant for me. Is there any real advantage to a solution like this?

Actually, the sound is one I can think of... I have to connect the laptop to the amplifier with a phono cable so tis only stereo but still sounds great tho.

Did any of you get the Conceptronic Media Giant? Impressions so far? Looking for something that will play Divx, and also record via Scart from a Sky Box or record old videos via a scart input. This seems to fit the bill: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=379849 Other alternative I'm looking at is the Hyundai media player/recorder enclosure from aria: https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Hyundai+HDR-350Q+Personal+Media+Recorder?productId=29526
