If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if he took a disliking to his supporters

I think he strongly disliked a lot of them from the start.

Yes it will become the land of milk and honey but for who?, Obama plans to legalize 12million illegals thus shoring up the new Democrat dictatorship while the hard working White Majority gets pummelled in taxes to pay for the new Marxist Socialist utopia Mr. Obama plans to create, America will now be more divided than ever before and I firmly believe that the union is now under its greatest pressure since the beginning of the Civil War. America will be glad to come back to the Republicans and they will in droves yet. From one right wing moderate to a left wing black Islamic named liberal marxist.... A hollywood producer couldn't have scripted it.

Nov 4th 2008 the day the liberal facisists took over America and it became a single party state.

I pray for the day that democracy returns! God Bless and Protect America as there are dark days ahead on the horizon.
    LOL :D
mumhaabu, you come across as a 15-year-old who's overdosed on Fox News. Can you back up ANY of that rhetoric? Or do you even know what any of it means? "Liberal fascists", "Democrat dictatorship" - it's true. A Hollywood producer couldn't have scripted it...

Ah Christ. Seriously, the worst thing about having conservative beliefs is being associated with idiots like you.
+1. It must be very frustrating to have your views undermined like that. Kinda like the way McCain and other Republicans were reportedly getting frustrated by fanatical Palin leaving the side down.

McCain's speech reminded me of what he was like before the Presidential Campaign and what I liked about him as a politician.
+1. Yeah, he struck me as moderate and rational until the pressure kicked in and he had to appease the hardliners...

**** yeah it is. McCain before the campaign was as close as any Politician has come to having the same views as I. Unfortunately he wasn't going to win like that, and needed to appeal to "the base". Although I think that's open to debate, since I doubt "the base" were ever going to vote for Obama over him.
As I said in another thread, Fox's results coverage was brilliant. Almost completely non-partisan. There were a coupla little digs at the Democrats, but it was more at the over-the-top self-congratulation of the Democrats. Hopefully I'm proved wrong and somehow they can fix the economy, but I doubt anyone can make much of a difference in the short or medium term.

Haven't seen any Fox coverage. Can't wait to see Bill O'Reilly's take on the whole thing though :pac:

First of all, lets take our hats off to the yanks and show them some respect for saving us from ourselves!

I'll make on prediction here though, and that is that George W. Bush will launch some sort of pre-emptive strike on Iranian Nuclear facilities before he moves house...

    Awesome! :D
    black Islamic named
Oh do you have a problem with him being black? Why mention it otherwise?

"Islamic named"? I thought you considered him a full-blown Arab terrorist. I'm pretty sure "Islamic named" doesn't constitute Arab terrorist - any particular reason why "Islamic named" is so problematic?

McCains speach was nice to watch I have to say. I could sense that he was very relieved for it to be over either way. And he stepped down with an admirable amount of humility, and as the crowd boo'd at the mention of Obama you could see his displeasure in being the man representing that side of America.

Seriously though, I had completely written of America as a country in the last number of years, I just though as a people they were a basket case, I was asked to go to the US on a holiday a few years ago and the thoughts of going there just made me shudder, actually I ended up going somewhere else, because as a form of protest, I said I wouldn't go there as long as GWB was president...

What has happened here is truly remarkable, it has restored my respect for the country and it's citizens...

Ditto here. I love going to the US every year and have lived there for a couple of years. Even honeymooned in Calif and Hawaii 3 weeks after sept 11th.
But I vowed back in 2003ish never to set foot in it again until Bush is gone. And I thought I was the only one to do this :)
    Kept to that promise also.

Not a wise view to take when it's a country of over 300 million people - it's more like a bunch of countries.

But the crazies you objected to before... they're still there.

Nail on the head, I think thats one of the reasons an Obama win was so important and it is why his presidency feels momentous before it has even begun.

But I think that now everyone recognises that they're not *all* crazies, and that the crazies have effectively lost. I think Americans deserve kudos for taking their country back. I have some liberal american friends who will be very relieved today.

No results in a couple of states yet, anyone any sources??

CNN saying Indiana (11), North Carolina (15) and Missouri (11) still have no final result. IN and NC swaying blue, MO red.

MSNBC have Indiana for Obama, but the other two undecided. Same for Fox I think. Apparently MO and NC are split even.

The liberal Americans - both Democrat and Republican - were always around. And I think it's terribly small-minded to condemn an entire country, refuse to visit it etc on the basis of the president and the idiots who voted for him. What about the millions who objected? I'd be quite insulted by that view if I were American.
The constant no-holds-barred attacks on America piss me off. It's a great country with great people. They're not all loons.

I agree, all of the americans I know are great people. But anti-american sentiments were caused by the frankly horrific things that have been going on there. Thankfully it might cease now.

    Well thank f*ck for that.

I thought McCain was very gracious in defeat. He's a decent man that had to pander to the idiots in his base. His reaction to their booing last night said a lot. I'd say he can't abide that type of supporter. Palin however looks to be the way that party is going.

Obama's speech was a touch cheesy for me. I mean that whole bit about the old woman voting and the repeating of "Yes we can" was a bit much. Then it cuts to Oprah weeping in the crowd. I mean I'm happy he got elected. I think the world is a better place for it but this mass hysteria is just too much for me.

Bush cast a dark cloud over the Us that put me off visiting or moving there TBH. The people voted him in a second time I think that might be where the genralisation stems from.

Obama has brought a breath of fresh air and restored confidence overall.

As someone who has lived here for close to 3 years it is a great day to be an american. Anyone who thinks otherwsie is fooling themselves. John Mccain was very gracious in defeat and i commend him for that.

Today is going to be a long day as got only a few hours sleep last night.

would like to see McCain involved in the administration, he still has a lot to offer his country just, thankfully not as president....

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭CivilServant

The first black president since Denzel Washington.

What about Dennis Haybert aka President David Palmer.

So now, presuming Obama gets a 2nd term, and at this point i think he will since he has such a good PR machine around him, can you imagine the 2016 race?
Just think what the dems will have: Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Obama, Al Gore, these are huge media heavy hitters.
I'd say the dems are poised nicely to break the dem-rep-dem-rep presidential cycle.

Thats what Rove thought 4 years ago also. It will go back rep after 4 or 8 years of a dem in the WH max.
