Very unlikely, because for a pregnancy test to be accurate, the fertilised egg must have implanted in the womb. That does not normally happen until 8-ish days after conception, which, in a " normal" 28 day cycle is the beginning of the week before your period. That being said, First response has a test now that claims to be accurate 6 days before a missed period in 60% of women, so you might try that and it could give you a positive more than a week before, if your hormones are strong (false positives are much much rarer than false negatives).

I would advise against testing that early. As many as 75% of fertilised eggs fail to implant due to either a lack of genetic information in the zygote or an inability to implant properly. So you may get a positive test yet still have your period on time or a day or two later than usual. This will have the emotional impact of a miscarriage.

I know it's difficult to wait, but it is only a couple of weeks and it will pass. Just try to distract yourself as much as possible.

This is true. Do not do an early test because if you get a negative you won't believe it until you get your period therefore you will be building up your hopes and if you get a positive and then get your period you will know that you have had an early miscarriage.

I was 7 weeks pregnant last April when I was told the baby wasn't developing and I needed to have a D&C. I was heartbroken however knowing that it is very common gave me comfort. However the first time I was able to try again I felt all the symptoms of pregnancy (nausea, sore boob’s lethargy) the week my period was due. I told myself that I was creating these feelings. I waited until 2 days after my period was due and got a positive I was so happy. The next day I got my period.

This second lost 'pregnancy' hurt me more than the first, I know that if I hadn't have taken the test I would have assumed my period was a little late and that I had imagined the symptoms. I'm still have not got over it and have not been able to try again.

First Response do a test which you can use 6 days before your missed period.

You can have what's called a chemical pregnancy where the bean doesn't stick resulting in a false positive
