There's a Broken Sword coming to the Wii and DS too. A directors cut of the first one (more content).

LucasArts seem more than happy to flog the Star Wars franchise rather then go back to adventure games.

Never mind the price, you can't seem to get it anywhere on the net or in the shops...up north or down south!

We can't get stock of this for love nor money at the moment. Nintendo simply can't keep up with the demand for it.

Why is this? Did Nintendo not realise how how popular this game would be? Is it down to the TV advert?
I did see this online and in the shops about 3 weeks ago, and had planned to buy it as a present but can't get it anywhere now

Not 100% sure to be honest. This is slightly unusual in that the game has been out a year in Japan and the USA. You would have assumed that similar sales patterns would have been predicted and catered for but it has fallen woefully short. We found it quite ironic that it continues to be featured on a tv advert when we have probably 30 people a day emailing us asking for stock because it can't be found elsewhere.

There is a small amount of stock arriving into the independent retailers on Monday and I think Smyths are in on this allocation too but it is literally 20% of what every retailer had ordered ( rationing is back and here to stay !!!!! ) so it may be an idea to bribe the local store clerk to hold one for you.

Going out on a limb here ..... and personal opinion at that but I would expcect you will find that those are pirated. Still an option though :)

i took delivery of my ebay/hong kong copy at lunchtime. It seems to work fine but the "instruction" booklet is, um, a review of the game with a few screenshots chucked in.

I'm gonna assume the thing can't do that much damage to my DS...kinda pished off with Nintendo/whoever that they didn't forsee this kind of demand. It was, in a sense, inevitable that a game which took bits of brain-training but added in something akin to a narrative was going to sell in the kind of numbers that would leave hot-cake merchants complaining about relatively sluggish comparative sales...

I don't think it was inevitable, Hotel Dusk and Another Code didn't do that well and I would put them in the same category, I knew it would be good but looks niche to me. A point and click and it's not the early 90s? Also I saw no ads for it until it was out and that was in store promotion only.

Remember massive shortages = publicity and more sales in the long run, oversupply = wasted money

Delighted with the weekly puzzle too.

For anyone still hunting, several Smyths stores appear to have got a delivery this morning. Picked one up in Carrickmines.

No, the geniuses at toys.ie have just used the wrong image. The version in the shops is the UK release.

Hey all, happened to see loads of these, the uk version, going for a song on ebay if you're willing to wait a week or two for it to arrive.

Most of them are scams, lots of people have been duped so stay away from them unless the seller is genuine. I am in the process of trying to get a refund from a seller with 99% possitive feedback.
People have been caught for VAT and import Duty too as the are arriving from the US so unless you think its worth chancing it avoid it.
Gamestop and Smyths have it back in stock at the moment so I am going to try later.

I was in Smyths fonthill this evening and none left. Went to Blanchardstown and they have it. Looked like they had about 20 behind the counter - none on the shelf that I could see.

Just a heads up for anyone in Dublin looking for this - we have about ten left in Golden Discs in Mary Street as of this evening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 644 ✭✭✭Mackleton

Anyone in Limerick, this is available in Gamestop in the Crescent for 50 euro. Bit steep to be honest, but if you're desperate...

If you are offering goods for sale do it in adverts.ie

Offering it for piracy will get you a ban and maybe reported to ELSPA.

I was very lucky to manage to get a copy on Sunday morning. I was in the Jervis Centre and I keyed in the number on the Argos checker. They had one left. That will be one very happy little girl on Christmas morning and one relieved dad !!
