You see we won a double, scored a hoop of goals and conceded feck all last year playing that modified 4-3-3 and yet we haven't used it much this season........

Rooney is our most important player especially against the big teams I don't see how pushing him out wide is ever a good move.

And talking about last year name two good performances when Rooney was out wide?

The modified formation you talk is is 4-2-3-1. 4 defenders, 2 sitting/ controlling midfielders, a right winger, left winger, toward in the hole and a striker. Our best performances last year was playing this formation with two actual wingers and Rooney tevez switching the forward roles.

This year it's Rooney and Berb in the forward roles.

They should really - only Fletcher and Brown doubts. Hargreaves and Scholes out obviously. I hope Tevez & Anderson start but I doubt the Lion will.

    I expect:

VDS, Rio, Vidic, Evra, Neville, Anderson, Giggs, Park, Ronaldo, Berbatov, Rooney

In other news, Maradona gave Rio a signed shirt for his 30th today at training today

Where exactly would you fit Tevez into the team? Based on recent form he would be on the bench for me

Arsenal to come out all guns a blazing in the early stages of the game. possibly to go one or two up, only to lose their cool and concede some late goals to lose the game.

seems to be the recurrent theme recently for the big games.

United look like they will stroll it.

    Arsenal look weak.

Will typically be a hot tempered affair.

And more than likely finish 1-1 :)

They will easily overcome Arsenal tomorrow.

Wish I shared your confidence! 2-1 to United but it will be no walkover!

United will score early enough on, and relax and become shaky in the latter half of the game, as they have been doing everytime lately! Allowing Arsenal to give me a 45 minute heart attack..
And that's not even worst case scenario!

cant understand people thinking united will steamroll arsenal at the emirates, really think thats far fetched

can see this being 1-1 or 2-1 depending on who scored first

arsenal will not roll over, almunia will have a great game (cause thats what keepers do when we they play us),arsenal will be up for it and will cause our bakline problems and we havent exacly been playing our most fluent football so i cant see where the huge confidence has come from all of a sudden

now i should prbably get some sleep before the game as its only 5 hours away!!

ill give the nod to united with a scoreline of 2-1 and goals for Berba and Tevez who will come off the bench to grab the winner

Actually I was talking about our formation in the first half of the CL Final which was the one we used most of the season.

    VDS
    Brown----Rio----Vida----Paddy
    Hargreaves---Carrick---Scholes
    Ronaldo
    Rooney
    Tevez

When we had the ball the 3 boys up front interchanged and Hargreaves pushed up the right. When we didn't everyone got tight and Rooney and Tevez came back. That was the case for most of the games. So for todays game I'd like to see the same attitude and formation with the personnel of:

    VDS
    ??????----Rio----Vida----Paddy
    Fletcher---Carrick---Anderson
    Ronaldo
    Berba
    Rooney

with the interchangeability coming in the form of......

    On the ball:

    Carrick---Anderson
    Fletch---Rooney---Ronaldo
    Berba

i.e - the 4-2-3-1 like you said or:

    Off the ball:

    Ronaldo--Carrick--Fletch---Anderson
    Rooney

    Berba

Bold prediction! Almunia has had a 'mare pretty much every time he's ever played United.

I can't say I'm feeling optimistic about this one, although I expect Arsenal to play better than they have done recently. Big game and all, motivation shouldn't be a problem.

Exactly the team I was expecting bar Neville, who I thought was injured!

I agree, probably our best possible team save for the absense of Brown

Silvestre gets the nod ahed of Toure. Wierd decision especially considering he has the broken nose...

Because if you have Vela in there he wouldn't have even been able to reach that ball

I really dont get what your basing this on. Yes he's missed two chances, he's not playing badly though.
You just seem to want to have a go at Bendtner because you don't like him or something. You were doing this in the Arsenal thread earlier.
I went through a period of not liking Adebayor there a while ago while he was playing kak, but I didnt just base how he played on my personal opinion.

    Poor miss there from Rooney

Bendtner just doesn't gel well with the team. I just can't see what you guys see in him. I can see what you mean about Adebayor, though - he can be the same as Bendtner at times, but not half as bad. Free kick for us now.
