By searching paypal.ie I found this:

    https://www.paypal.com/helpcenter/main.jsp;jsessionid=JJgPHjYy122rn7Dk1NhB7mcdLYlz5cGjCHJ8Q22cxDX87jhn3F5s!-1157512382?locale=en_US&_dyncharset=UTF-8&countrycode=IE&cmd=_help&serverInstance=9005&t=solutionTab&ft=searchTab&ps=solutionPanels&solutionId=10613&isSrch=Yes

but it is defaulting to US information so you will have to email Paypal and check out if these options are available for Irish users. They are quite good to respond to emails quickly.

Thats as specific as it gets without contacting Paypal, or speaking to someone who has used a method other than CC.

If you live in Ireland, then adding funds to your account is very difficult. You can send the money, by cheque, to Paypal. The easiest thing to do is either get a credit card, or a 3V card. 3V is probably the safest and easiest, and they do work with Paypal.

Sounds like you put the wrong expiry date month in when you registered you Credit Card.

can you transfer money directly from your bank account to your paypay account? Something ive been wondering about too. Ive been using 3v but would like another option apart from getting a credit card. They should really call them debt cards tbh

No, unless you have a UK account.

Go to "My Account" > "Top up account"

"Send a domestic bank transfer to PayPal"

"Transfer money from your bank account to your PayPal account.

Make sure that the name on your PayPal account matches the name on your bank account, so that the money can be transferred successfully. Your money will be in your PayPal account in 2-4 business days.

We don't charge you any fees for this transfer.

Your transfer must be in Euros.

If you use a different currency, your bank will convert the amount to Euros before transferring it to PayPal."

    "Beneficiary Name: PAYPAL PTE LTD
Bank: Bank of America N.A., Dublin"
Goes on to give sort code / account number and "Transfer ID".

    Anyone successfully completed this?

    Wrong.

Irish accounts can do it aswell, just click "top up account" and it gives all the details.

Works fine with my AIB account.

You couldn't before, now you can, sort of. It's a mickey mouse, round about way of doing it, and not near whats available in the UK and US. Very open to mistakes and loss of funds. Also there will be a delay in getting the funds credited.

Basically, it's a load of shit.

I did this about a month ago from a BOI current account , as far as I remember it took about a week for the transfer from BOI to show up in my PayPal account ,

I just added PayPal as a New Beneficiary from the BOI current acount online and when that account was activated transferred the money ,

Paypal take a percentage of everything that's sent. So you'd be getting less than you are paying for. I know a 3V card is gonna cost you €5 straight away, but i'd rather that personally.

I tried a few months back to set it up with my bank account and had no luck. From what i hear its still not a very good option with them to do so.

my own fault really, was using the 3v,and forgot to send the link to the card,so they thaught my account was been hacked with all the new and old cards been added,so i had to ring them and explain to them the situation and what card i use

Oh, they've restricted your account due to suspicious activity. This is totally up to Paypal, it could be any amount of time, including forever. They're like that sometimes.

You could set up a new Paypal account and start fresh. Verify properly this time.

Is there a charge for doing this. It is not clear in my AIB internet banking if this is free.
Doing the same in the bank costs €25 so not really worth it.

Anyone used AIB internet banking to transfer funds to their paypal account?

Is there an actual physical bank
"Bank of America N.A., Dublin" that could be used to lodge money?

It shouldn't cost anything, except maybe whatever fees you bank normally applies for a regular transaction. It does cost about €25 to do a bank transfer to a bank outside of Ireland, but that's not what you're doing in this case.

Does this work with Ulster bank? Sounds preferably to using 3v cards for large purchases.

See the Paypal thread, or check the help in your Paypal account. It tells you how to transfer money using Online/Phone banking.
