If you want one of the standard textbooks on management accounting, you could consider one of the following:

Colin Drury Management and Cost Accounting Cengage Learning: 7th edition, 2007.

This is one of the leading textbooks used in many parts of the English-speaking world. It is recommended by ACCA for the Management Accounting examination.

Alnoor Bhimani, Charles Horngren, Srikant Datar, George Foster Management and Cost Accounting FT Prentice Hall: 4th edition, 2007.

This is the European edition of a classic US textbook by Horngren - Al Bhimani is a Professor of Accounting at the London School of Economics. This book is recommended by ACCA, along with Drury's book, for the Performance Management examination.

Peter Atrill & Eddie McLaney Management Accounting for Decision Makers FT Prentice Hall: 5th edition, 2006.

This is less detailed than the previous two books, as it is written more for general managers than specialist accountants. However, the authors have a very high reputation for writing accounting textbooks.

Pauline Weetman Financial and Management Accounting: An Introduction FT Prentice Hall: 4th edition, 2006.

This is a very widely used introductory textbook so it does not go into as much technical depth as the first two books. It is possible to buy the Management Accounting part of this book separately, but the combined book is not much more expensive, and you get the Financial Accounting material as well.
