Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any chance the Mods can re-open it?

It shouldn't have been locked in the first place, the people ruining the thread should have been dealt with instead of the thread being closed.

You should have PMd the mods, or posted in helpdesk.

    But you are right.

If anyone from the SFA was in attendance at New Douglas Park they may have watched this game through the cracks in their fingers after a stunning solo performance from a player they forgot to invite to play for Scotland.

James McCarthy, the 17-year-old Hamilton Academical wonderkid, stole the show against Falkirk and his brilliant opener before Michael Higdon’s equalising goal shared the points, helped to win himself yet another man-of-the-match accolade.

McCarthy, who was awarded the obligatory bottle of champagne, won’t be able to enjoy his prize until Wednesday when he turns 18. And he may have cause for a double celebration as he has been widely tipped to earn himself his first international call-up to the Ireland squad.

Considering McCarthy isn’t of legal age to drink, he has notched up an incredible 83 professional appearances so far, and has shown the Scotland manager, George Burley, exactly what a disastrous decision it was by some in the SFA to not ensure the youngster pledged his international career to his country of birth.

“To be honest, he’s probably the best player I’ve seen,” Mark McLaughlin, the defender, said. “James’s finish today was superb and he can do that with his left foot as well.”

There is no doubt Scotland will regret not pushing hard enough to persuade McCarthy to represent them. Giovanni Trapattoni, the Ireland manager, looks certain to call McCarthy up to the senior squad and he has already indicated he wants to play for Ireland.

“James was great against Falkirk,” Billy Reid, the Hamilton manager, said. “We have asked him to add more goals to his game and that’s exactly what he has done.”

There is no doubt McCarthy will, at some point, leave his place of education and earn himself a big move elsewhere, but for now, there is no better club for him to learn his game where he is guaranteed first-team action on a weekly basis.

A gentle reminder for the Mods who have allowed the lies to stay on the thread.
