    Should I register my Garmin now or wait for Map updates
    Just bought a Garmin NUVI 255w today and synced with sat. It has City Naigator Europe NT 2008 maps on it. How do I find out is there is an update avail. Should I register my unit now or wait and hopefully pick up more recent maps at a later stage

    I recently bought a nuvi 250 and updated to 2009 maps, it gave me 30 days to download the maps for free. Try here, it should tell you if there is an update available.

    You are definitely entitled to a free upgrade to the 2009 maps.

    The latest maps are only out in the last few weeks. You need to register now (within 60 days of your first fix) or you will get no free update!

    I bought one this time last year and only registered it last week and got a free upgrade to the 2009 maps..

    What proof of purchase do you need etc? - Bought mine from Komplett almost a year ago.......

    - Any chance of just giving them the serial number etc?

    Also, can you ever flash a ROM chip to get extra functionality etc.? Like this lane assist that girl on the radio keeps singing on about ;)

    All you need is the serial number I think.
