we need to be more like the americans and the japanese.
Where did all the talk about the knowledge economy go?

What are the pro and con arguments for these types of reactors?
Are there any more waste or less than usual?

The site reckons a plant is good for 20k American homes so about 25-30k Irish ones I guess.

I'd say actually about 10 to 15k Irish homes, the average American home is quite small and a large proportion of Americans live in Apartments. The average Irish home is a 4 to 8 bedroom small castle build in a one off basis in a conservation area by some guy who was in "the buildings" and it both badly insulated and very draftly. Plus there are massive Electric consumption differences between the two countries but I reckon the average Irish family home is worse the US. Good step forward and something like this is needed to stop the madness that is being invested in "renewables"*.

I fail to see your logic . These power stations would still need to be refueled with Uranium fuel every 7 to 10 years. If everybody changes to this type of power the pricce for the fuel would go up.Also the big supply of the fuel are in countries in Africa which are politicaly unstable.Australia hasnt got eneogh uranui to supply all the world .Then we still got the problem of where to store the nuclear waste for a 100,000 years same issues as big power stations ???

We would still risk to hostage to price hikes and unrealiable supply and the feul cost would probably increase exponetialy with demand .The power plant can be broken and spill nuclear waste in earth quakes and fuel resupply and waste still risk to be stolen or spilt or attacked from terrorists when being in transport to from the power plants The amounts would be smaller than a big power station but a few kilograms of nuclear waste spread around a neighbourhood from a bomb strapped to the fuel would not be interesting for the victims who live there

Nuclear power from Uranuim is still a finite resource and will risk to run out some day. "Renewables" will be there for ever

So how can renewables be crazy
