Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't see how he hasn't got a chance in a bigger league. He's got pace and he's a classic goal poacher.

He's got a fairly impressive record for CSKA and he's just knocked in four today (about ten minutes to go in that match against FK Moskva). He'll probably be top-scorer in the Russian league this year. He's already got 21, afaik.

I remember first seeing him for CSKA whent hey won the UEFA Cup a few years back and I was impressed with him then. He's been knocking goals in for years now and he's still only 24. I think he's better than Jo and Jo's now at Man City.

So anybody else rate him at all?

i've often thought he could do a job for a Prem team too. I think when it comes to players playing in Russia one has to realise that players don't get near as much exposure and also that with the money in the Russian league they can often be very over priced (like Arshavin).

but in relation to Love moving to the Prem, i think a big hurdle was that he was unlikely to get a work permit if I remember.

The thing is though that many Russian clubs are loaded and if they don't get a decent offer they have no need to sell.
It's not like buying from Croatia or Serbia or somewhere.

More often than not I've actually not been impressed with him but haven't seen him play in a good while.

Him and Luis Fabiano (sp) seem to be a good talent alright..Luis seemed to just pop up one day on the Brazil team in Fifa..seen him play though.hes equally as good

Anytime I've ever seen Wagner Love play for Brazil he has been as effective as a turd.

he's been very good for his club alright, but i think a major stopping point could be wages. He'll be on massive wages right now and would need to take a big big cut to go to most clubs (bar the obvious like Chelsea, Man City etc). I dont know this for a fact, but the main reason any good player is in the russian league is money.

He does have 21 caps for Brazil, not bad when he'd be behind the likes of Adriano, Ronaldo, Robinho, Fred, probably Jo as well.

Might not be enough to meet the requirements of the Work Permit lads, though I don't know.

I think what people have failed to see (and why would we) is that the Russian game is suddenly much wealthier than most 'small' leagues, so they'll only accept high transfer fees. They won't just desperately grab the much needed cash.

Interestingly, with the Brazilian economy doing well (although obviously the world economy isn't helping it) they might not want to sell the next generation of Vagner Love's too the Russians, and so, the Russians might not be quite so keen on selling on.

Yeah... They were looking at him last January as well and there were rumours in the summer that he'd be on the way to Goodison.

Apparently there is a deal in place for him to come in January as their league finishes in a couple of weeks and they didn't want to lose him in June/July, which would have been mid-season for them.

Would love to see him in a blue shirt. Rate him quite highly.

Two games left in the Russian league.

The problem with those kind of deals is he'll be well out of match fitness and if he does join Everton, they probably won't see the best of him until the 2009/10 season.

The Russian League is rated the 6th best in Europe at the moment and it's closing in on Germany and France. It's not the worst place in the world to be at the moment in terms of salaries and ability.

those 21 caps have come over a 5 year period, he made his debut in 2003. i think it's only recently he's qualified, i think that's why Prem clubs haven't been looking at him until the last year or so.
A player must have played for his country in at least 75% of its competitive ‘A’ team matches he was available for selection, during the two years preceding the date of the application; and, The player’s country must be at or above 70th place in the official FIFA world rankings when averaged over the two years preceding the date of the application.

he played in all the copa America matches in 2007 and in the current WCQ campaign he's played the first 4 games, although i don't know what the story was with his availability for the last few. haven't a notion about the friendlies either but i'd say he got a fair few games in them.

The reason he stayed in Russia is because Abramovich has the first option of taking him to Chelsea as CSKA have Roman as a shareholder.

Hughes doesnt rate Jo apparently, i dont really either - dont get me wrong hes a good player but doesnt have the strength for the EPL. Not sure if Love could do a job in EPL either tbh but i reckon he may be more up to the pace and physicality of the league...

 just not true and never has been.

In March 2004, Sibneft agreed to a three-year sponsorship deal worth $58 million with the Russian team CSKA Moscow. Although the company explained that the decision was made at management level, some viewed the deal as an attempt by Abramovich to counter accusations of being unpatriotic which were made at the time of the Chelsea purchase. Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) rules prevent one person owning more than one team participating in UEFA competitions, so Abramovich has no equity interest in CSKA. A lawyer, Alexandre Garese, is one of his partners in CSKA. Following an investigation, he was cleared by UEFA of having a conflict of interest.[48] Nevertheless, he was named most influential person in Russian football in the Russian magazine Pro Sport at the end of June 2004. In May 2005, CSKA won the UEFA Cup, becoming the first Russian club ever to win a major European football competition. However, in October 2005, Abramovich sold his interest in Sibneft and the company's new owner Gazprom, which sponsors FC Zenit Saint Petersburg, cancelled the sponsorship deal.

Thats not his name! He only got it because he scores just as often off the pitch as he does on it!

    *hopes everton sign him*

He got a hat-trick just before Xmas in the Uefa cup. I think the money quoted for him is ridiculous same with Arshavin. Players untested at the top level commanding ridiculous fee's is ludicrous.

    What do you mean if?

    From Wikipedia:
    Leaked Pornographic Video

In 2008 a video of Vágner Love and Brazilian porn actress Pamela Butt was leaked on the internet. Butt said: 'I'm very well paid to have sex on camera, but I earned nothing for this. I am two people: Pamela the actress and Pamela the private lady, and today the private lady is defiled'.

Vágner Love wasn't too concerned, he said: 'Hey, I'm known for being amorous, let's be honest: this reputation isn't one that unsettles me.'
