Just to compare the urbanite industrial Brits to the largely rural Irish housing market we have the following..

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2008/nov/11/mortgages-property

"The average price paid by a first-time buyer in the UK had dropped by 7.8% over the year to £150,311"

Now compare this to Austin's propaganda for Ireland:
    http://www.rte.ie/business/2008/1104/housing.html

"It notes taht hosue prices are currently in trend with those recorded in August 2005, with the average first time buyer home cost €239,398 in September."

As both markets are in crash mode with the UK about a year behind, the currency conversion of one euro getting 80p would translate as an average of €180k for a FTB in the UK hence €60k dearer here.

To sum up, Ireland is truely different for the young :D

    Uk - around 90% urbanised.
    Ireland - between 50% and 60%

Ok, urbanites are overtaking the place here. Nearly half the market was rural several years ago though.
Not as much urban density as UK yet!
