Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I was going to post in the web hosting forum but don't have permission.

Our companies website is currently attracting about 20,000 visitors per day and this is going to increase as the Christmas season unfolds.

Our site hosts alot of video and our bandwidth is expensive.
We want to use a seperate server (solution) in the states or something for hosting our video and then point the video links to that server on our website.

Can anybody recommend a company we can do this with?

We looked at Rackspaces "mosso" but that is in beta stage and uptime is not guaranteed.

All our videos only add up to less than 500MB but we estimate bandwidth required to be around 4.5TB's.

    Any replies appreciated.
    Thanks.

We can not compare or recomend hosting solutions here, or promote one specific one.

I would recomend contacting the main irish hosting providers directly and asking for quotes.

Good luck with finding it, I'm sure if you put together your requirement list and send it off to all of these they will all get back to you quickly. Just make sure they will provide you the bandwidth you need, and preferably offer a high uptime guarentee and decent reperations if it is not met.

hmmm we were thinking of something in the states as it's seems to be much much cheaper. Mosso would have only been about 700 dollars for about two months with all that bandwidth.

One of the main reasons we want to do this is to save money.

I have generally found that the cost outweighs the support issues. I have always had better expeience hosting in Ireland, even though the US may be cheaper. It's nice to be able to hop on a plane to dublin and talk to someone face to face, or to give them a ring and give out to them if needs be =)

True. All our main hosting is with providers close to us with 24/7 support. If there was a problem with our server in the states (or where ever) all we will need to do is change a few lines of code to point the video back to ourselves and were online again. That's our backup plan!

Also, I would still suggest getting direct quotes, they may be more reasonable than you would expect.

You are NOT looking for a hosting company, what you need is a CDN (Content delivery network). You will still need a host just weight will be handled by the CDN.
