Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Re-installing XP Problem

Hi, I work in a an internet cafe, recently our desk machine (linked to the till, printer etc) started blue screening (bad pool header & driver irql not less or equal were the two causes cited) it's been a while since we formatted the pc so it'd pretty junked up. Anyway, i booted up with an XP disc in the drive and it loaded the files like nornal, then when it got to the stage where you select the partition for installing onto, it said there was no hard disc present. There is a hard drive in obviously but it wont detect it. I tried with a different hard drive and it wont even boot up at all then to anything, just keeps looping around the inital loading screen.

What am i not doing right? I'm formatted bugger loads of pcs before and never had this problem... Is it some bios setting or something?

**EDIT - Realised this is in the wrong section. Sorry, I've reposted in Windows forum!**

i think you'll need to press F6 durring initial set up (you'll see it at the bottom of the screen) and load SATA drivers from a floppy disc or usb stick

It could also be a dead drive, check diagnostics to see,

if you have anouther machine of the same make and model check what it says in device manager or look up the manufacturers site

putting in a drive from another machine will cause STOP errors and reboots if the motherboard uses a different hard drive controller

Try checking the BIOS - in particular the SATA or Hard Drive Operation tab where it may be disabled.

Depends on the mother board and chipset, in my case it was from Intel's site.

I got the sata drivers anyway, started to install windows no probs. Then after it had formatted the drive and copied files, it restarted, then blue screened again! tried a couple of times and it did it again. I just ended up using another pc instead for the main machine until we figure out what's up with it!

Cheers for the help guys anyway :)

It sounds like bad ram from my experience. If you have more than 1 ram slot on your mainboard, take out 1 slot of ram an try running the setup again. If it fails again try the other slot etc.
