The choice of phones on the American market is very poor. Technically their phones are usually at least 2 years behind ours in terms of features and specifications. There is the (very) odd exception such as the iPhone and Nokia are starting to open up stores over there. Just be aware that alot of Amercan phones run on CDMA which is a completely different system to what we have here and they use a different band for GSM/WCDMA.

Mobile phones are the one area of technology where the US is way behind us.

TBH, it's just not worth it. I remember, while living in the US, explaining the concept of SMS to a mobile phone support person. He had severe troubling differentiating between SMS and e-mail on a phone.

    Don't bother.
