    Hey,

I need a mechanics report. My mechanic is up to his tits at the moment so he asked me to write it out myself and he'd stamp it, but I don't know how you word it or lay it out.
He told me what info I need to put in it but If anybody could help me to word it, it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    cheers.

    Full story:

I got a new cat for my 2001 130 bhp VW passat. 4 months later the new cat broke. They have a 24 month warranty and I'm trying to get my replacement. The supplier asked me for a mechanics report.

Mechanic said he checked the engine mounts, gearbox mounts, exhaust brackets & there was something else that I can't think of right now. He found nothing wrong with the car that would cause a new part to break.

So i need to put that into a proper report.

-replaced catalytic converter on warranty job
    -general check over of vehicle
-I assessed the vehicle and can certify that it is indeed not a death trap.

    etc etc

is there a certain format it should take?

like, mechanics address in top left/right?

    To Whom it may concern,

I have investigated the breakage of ShayK1's new cat.
    I have confirmed that the:
    mounts
    brackets
    etc...

    are all in PWO.

I assessed the vehicle and can certify that there is no mechanical reason for the breakage.

    Does that look ok?

There has to be a reason for the breakage, metal fatigue, poor welding, whatever....
