does anyone know how new deutz tractors rate V's NH or JD's. I have heard that the older ones, DX's, were sound enough. my brother is considering purchasing a new tractor

Good tractors, I wouldn't worry for a second about buying one as long as you have a good local dealer to give parts and support.

a deutz is the exact same as a SAME or a lamborghini or a hurliman , they are all part of the same company now SDF , from what i hear the SAME are cheaper than the deutz but as i said , thier exactly the same tractor , same would be regarded as being an ok tractor though they are selling well again , i wouldnt buy either a same or a deutz but if i had to choose any tractor in the SDF range , it would be the lamborghini , i think they look the nicest where as i think deutz are ugly

Weren't Deutz setting up their engines to run on pure rape seed oil or had they the two tank scenario for diesel on starting and low revs ?
Might be savings down the road ?

I am not allowed discuss …

Yes, when he spoke to the dealer he was told they will run on biodiesel altho he didnt say how exactly, i would guess it is unlikely to be a dual tank system

my choice would be the hurliman, due in part to sdf's pricing structure of their parts. hurliman parts are cheaper. Keep in mind though if you go for sdf you will be tied to the dealer for parts and service - which will mean your looking at higher servicing bills.

Have a Look at the Case range good reliable tractors with a good range of models. What hp tractor he thinking about

that would be my thinking too, if that option was on the table. getting a more mainstream tractor means its easier to trade in to a different dealer for a good price. a dealer wont be jumping up and down to take in a two year old hurliman.

Yes, I read the newer Detzs and sames are being setup to run on this oil. Id have no problem buying either. What I find with tractors is people are like sheep. IF there is a John deere Agent near by and all neighbours are buying and praising youll see John deeres. same wiht landini, same with MF and same wiht Same/Deutz. A lot depends if you have a dealer close by, for backup etc. I think the new Detutz are a fantastic looking machine. And I know a guy who bought a DX inthe 80s and its being working seriously every year since.

MF 5455? 100hp and can be increased to around 110hp if needed. Its the most popular tractor in this class at the moment. MF are great machines but they would be a bit more expensive than a case or deutz

Deutz is a good tractor, I've got 4 of them ranging in years from 1994 - 2008 and in HP from 95 - 160. Despite what people might tell you all the tractors in the SDF stable aren't carbon copies, they're assembled in different factories and and the build quality differs as a result. I'd put the Deutz at the top of the bunch, and they also have a better resale value. For the horse power you're talking about I'd go for something from the Agrotron K range ahead of the Agrofarm. And as for the original question, there wouldn't be much between Deutz and JD, both are a better buy than NH.

We've owned Deutz tractors since the early 70's. They are great tractors. Our local dealer in Cork Lynch & McCarthy are dropping the Deutz dealership so this means a 60 mile treck to Kearney bros. Has this happened in other parts of the country? The sales rep told me that they had problems with Deutz honouring the warranty in some tractors so they are moving to Case instead.

Warranty?? Does it really exist on a Deutz?
Driving Impression; the first 7 month in my own new Deutz-Fahr Agrofarm 100 GS:
    1. Weak power, where are the 99 hp ISO? Tractor Focus Test Results
    http://www.farmersguardian.com/story.asp?storycode=22314
    2. It seems that the brakes are constantly on! In addition, the tractor running fully hydraulic pressure on the trailer-brake valve when I use the steering brakes on the fields.
    3. My diesel tank holds only 110 liters and not the 160 liters that are listed in the manual. :(
    4. The steel rims are not round, both the front and rear rims (5 mm). The tractor is jumping on the road.
    5. Noisy, quite a lot, 81-82 db(A) (self-test) instead of the maximum 74 db(A) that is specified in the Swedish manual.
    6. All mechanical controls are heavy to move. The reseller had fixed the lever to the lift-arms that are OK now!!! :D
    7. Higher fuel consumption (+4% on the road) than my 21 years old Ford 7610, 98 hp and excellent 78 db(A)!

I wouldn't consider the Agrofarm a Deutz tractor, it's mostly based on the old Same range. If you want a Deutz go for an Agrotron.

Agrofarm concept: a simple and easy tractor is very good. The quality is also approved but that they have been tampering with the specifications, I don’t like! :( And it feels like driving with the handbrake on, it's not good ... It's apparently not so many Agrofarm that have been sold, no one has questioned about my allegations above?
