    Mitch Mitchell, the drummer with the Jimi Hendrix Experience, has passed away at the age of 61.

    Mitchell, who was the last surviving member of the influential and critically acclaimed rock act, was found dead in a hotel room in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday.

    The Jimi Hendrix Experience released three studio albums between 1966 and 1970, including the seminal Are You Experienced? and Electric Ladyland.

    Hendrix died in 1970, while bassist Noel Redding passed away in 2003.

    Mitchell, who also performed with John Lennon, Keith Richards and The Pretty Things, was famed for his drumming style, which incorporated jazz and rock 'n' roll influences.

    He is believed to have died of natural causes.
