    Artist: The Strokes
    Album: Room On Fire
    Label: RCA
    Tracks: 11
    Length: 33:05
    Release Date: October 28, 2003

Room on Fire is the second album from garage rock revival band The Strokes. Probably best known for single "12:51", and other tracks such "Reptilia", and "The End has No End". Despite getting many good reviews from the media, Room on Fire did not reach the same number of sales as theire debut album "Is This it".

    Other Albums:
    Is This it
    Modern Times
    First Impressions of Earth

Love it, love it, love. Easily their best work imo.

Never really got overly into 'Is This It' apart from 'Last Nite' obviously but this album was essential listening for me through college.

The first four songs ('What Ever Happened', 'Reptilia', 'Automatic Stop' and '12.51') are just stunning, and 'The End Has No End' is a top drawer tune as well. In fact, I'd find it very hard to criticise any song on the album.

It's a pity their subsequent releases weren't as good but in 'Room On Fire' they made a classic.

Just for a bit of fun Trivia.

For all of the 11 songs on the album. Not one of them has a fade out ending... they are all kinda abrupt

I'd definitely agree about it being their best album especially What Ever Happened. I never understood the poor response it got at the time. I still listen to it regularly while I never listen to Is This It? or First Impressions of Earth after its first four songs.

I agree the first 4 songs are good, unfortunately I think the rest of the album is really weak compared to their debut. The reason it didn't do the business is because its more of the same, only not as good.

don't agree with this at all. "Is this it" would be in my top half dozen albums of all time.

Room on Fire is great though. Whatever Happened, Reptilia, 12:51, Under Control, Meet me in the Bathroom, I can't win . . .
There's one or two that aren't up to the standard of the rest (between love and hate)making it less consistent than their first album.

This is bringing back memories. 2003 - Ulster Hall Belfast. Shaking the hands of Julian Casablancas and Albert Hammond Jr and hugging Fabrizio. Good times.

Was Is This It the same? For some reason i think it was

Think it's a good album , but my least favourite of their three so far. Reptilia is immense though , but only Under Control , Whatever Happened , 12.51 and The End Has No End would be played regularly by me out of the rest

Should we have a 5 star rating poll in each thread?

do you mean a seperate poll, or just use the thread voting tools that are here already?

Also, i do believe that these should be stuck and previous threads unstuck. Dudess was here on sunday night, and i thought she might do it, but obviously not.

Perhaps as a mod you could pull in a few favours for us ;)

I can't do anything. Mods are only posters outside their own forum. By all means ask Dudess if she thinks some extra mods would benefit the forum as she seems to be the only real active one.

As for the poll, I just mean stick one up in the thread with the album. Like this

Couldn't you just use the star system at the top for rating threads to rate the album?

It's not a bad album tbh....but it doesn't touch "Is This it?" imo....

few great songs on it.... "undercontrol" is my fave song from it!

this could really have done with a sticky, it still could do with it, but the week is pushing on now.....
