Can you answer me this, and it's a genuine question - why was there so much passion and pride etc for a friendly between two second strings yet the Magners League, which is an actual competition doesn't generate the same buzz?

As said earlier, this thread has hundreds of posts, yet the game was only an exhibition.

Is it bandwagoners crawling out of the woodwork?

2 teams going at it 100%. The build up, the helicopter and army dropping the ball in. The Munster Haka and the crowd going ballistic, the New Zealand haka and the crowd hushed up to hear it, The intensity of the match. The excitement right until the end. Undoubtedly the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at a match.

To me it doesn't matter if it's 2 understrength teams. Does that mean the only valid rugby game in the world is when the 2 greatest teams play and only then if they have their entire best 15 players playing? That'll probably never happen.

The lack of a trophy doesn't matter. That game to me was the ultimate in what sport should be about.

 It was purely a money spinner for Adidas. Even the most diehard Munster must know that. There was no prize at stake and no reward for victory. It was an exhibition.

If the All Blacks saw it as such an important game then they would have had a full team out.

Well the All Blacks would certainly have been hammered at home if they had lost. It would also end their 'Grand Slam' tour. There was nothing but pride at stake. But to be fair what is at stake in most test matches?

It's about pride and being the best that we can be!!!!!! So what if it was a big money spinner. It created great revenue for both Thomond Park and the Munster region!!!! Why so bitter that Munster went out there and made it hard for the All Blacks to beat us!

Is a lot of that not just a gimmick though? Probably fully endorsed by Adidas?

What prize other than pride is ever at stake on tour matches? Test or otherwise.

And there was certainly lots of that on display last night, from both teams, perhaps through your green mist you couldn't see that.

as a Leinster man well done Munster and its such a pity you couldnt hold on for the last 4 minutes, great intensity, passion & skill, not the greatest performance from the ref.
Great performances from Ronan, Coughlan and the lad who replaced Leamy.
One thing i cant understand tho is why Barry Murphy never passes the ball, always runs into contact

This is rubbish. You've a very negative view if you think this game was only a money spinner for Adidas.

Why not just cancel all professional sport if this is the case.

A friendly? When did the All Blacks start playing friendlies on tour?

Go and learn something about Ruby before you comment please.

No NZ players got caps for last night's game.

This thread will get locked for sure. The usual inter-pro tripe has surfaced Neither side of argument paying heed to the other and all getting stupidly hot and bothered over NOTHING.

Right, thread locked. Going to be reviewing this later, i'm pretty sure there will be a couple of deserving bans. Nice one everyone and sinking down and just posting a pile of crap.
