I had a new laserline alarm installed on my car today, I'm very
happy with it except for the
the guy who installed it told me he did not connect up the
immobiliser relay because my car already had a factory immob...
He says if he did connect it up I would get conflictS resulting
in the ECU dropping error codes via my engine check light...
Is this the correct procedure when cars have factory immob's?

I would have liked him to connect it as it would be more protection..
It's an irish Lancer Glx, he says the immob in which the car already has is
    already very good and secure.

    Cheers

He could have connected it but it is standard practice (in my experience) among alarm installers not to connect the immobiliser.

I connected an alarm to my old Bora and I hooked up the immobiliser circuit to a starter motor inhibitor relay.

It wouldn't give you any extra protection, you can't start a modern car without the correctly coded key, and it greatly increases the risk of damaging your cars ECU.
