Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Are King's X the most underated band in the world?

Despite consistant critical success, they cannot make the big time.

Its been 17 years since they played Ireland, but Im gonna make the jaunt to London for their show in the Electric Ballroom on Jan 22nd 2009.

    Anyone else a fan?

Only discovered them 4 years ago, and totally agree. Top band with one amazing rock voice, amazing to think Dug(Doug) is about 58.
I am hoping to see them in Wolverhampton and if i'm lucky, London as well in january. Mate over there is getting us backstage passes for Wolverhampton.

Not sure you'll need backstage passes. Ive seen them 5 times and practically after every show (except supporting AC/DC in 1991), they came out into the venue after the show to socialise and share a pint. Top guys!Albums to recommend? "Dogman" is essential. If you like it, then purchase their current offering "XV".Its difficult to get their albums, although Sound Cellar in Dublin has always come up trumps, failing that, their entire catalogue is available on I-tunes."If you like what you hear then, go tell somebody"!

Dogman is brilliant, though some of the earlier ones are essential too - Faith,Hope,Love and Gretchen Goes To Nebraska in particular.

For the completists, Doug did an album with a couple of the guys from Trouble called Supershine which is absolutley fantastic.

I agree with all those album choices, but "Gretchen" and "Faith hope love" do sound a tad dated.Check out Dug's solo album "Strum sum up", in my opinion the best of the side projects. The upcoming London show (Jan 22nd) is being filmed for a DVD release.Cannot wait.

100% agree. "Goldilox", "Over my head", "Summerland", "Moanjam"... all incredible.Takes me back to 30/03/90 when they played the SFX. They gave 110% even though the gig was attended by 3 men and a dog.New DVD released this Saturday via the Molken Music website from their 1990 London show. Its only compatible on US DVD players although the site states it will play on all PC DVD players.

Great Band, particualrly like Gretchen.. and ...Mr Bulbous. Enjoyed the Platypus stuff too, although wasn't too keen on Dougs solo efforts.
May well make it to one of the shows.

Love the groove to this band's music. Saw them support AC/DC on the Razor's Edge tour back in the early nineties, they were on the "gretchen..", tour (i think).

Highly recommend any of their albums. "Gretchen .." being a personal fave along with "...Mr Bulbous" and "XV".
