Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hi everyone, i have to say since im running ubuntu my old desktop hasnt crashed once.
    have a couple questions

i have the desktop running xp and ubuntu (only because i want to use a couple of windows applications)
would wine run for exemple ASHAMPOO, to make DVD`s, or PIMPSTREAMER to stream videos to the psp?

when im running ubuntu and i plug in my external hard drive, ubuntu says unable to mount, why is this?
another question is what is the best way to format the hard drive for file sharing between xp and ubuntu?
i have 2 internal hard drives:
    c:\ is 60gb
    d:\ is 300gb
and the external is 300gb, they are all formated in ntfs

once again thank you for all your help

have you tried mounting manually? If your external drive is usb, try something like from a terminal

    sudo mkdir /meda/usbdrive

    enter your password

    then type:

    mount /dev/sda1 /media/usbdrive

Don't think the above works if the ext drive is formatted as NTFS tho.

if it doesn't type the following in a terminal, sudo fdisk -l
copy & paste the results back here

is this what you get here

If you need a programme to create DVD'S in Ubuntu, you could give "DeVeDe" a try rather than installing ASHAMPOO through Wine , you can install it from Synaptic Package Manager .

+1 for devede. Pretty decent piece of kit. Only does single pass encodes which is a pity, but not a real problem.

FAT32 in my opinion. Bear in mind the 4GB file size limit (which would preclude DVD ISOs as they are 4.7 GB) You can also read ext3 in windows with a driver from the web but if you are bringing your external drive around FAT32 can be read by any windows, linux or mac computer.
