The idea just came up in the Lair - so I'm just wondering would people be interested in a big group sushi lunch (Aya/Yamamori etc) some time before Christmas?

    Sushi, anyone? 17 votes

Why yes, that would be wonderful!

Sorry I've been to yamamori place twice and both times I've a)nearly been sick IN the place and b) been sick when I left.
SP doesn't do sushi or anything they do...

Nom nom nom. I recommend the Yamamori on the Quays rather than George's St. Bigger and better suited to big crowds. Nom.

I was in the aquarium recently, you can pat the stingrays (although you are not supposed to)!

Garlic in most of the noodle dishes (I've checked) and I ate the chicken curry one time and still was ill

Miso soup? A bowl of plain white rice? Tap water?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 25,871 Mod ✭✭✭✭Doctor DooM

What about the mongolian bbq? The foods still cool and different but at the same time you can have meat and rice if you want.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,362 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Oooh, haven't been to the Mongo in ages. Don't do like one guy did and "forget" to get his bowl cooked...

Sorry I probably sound like a moany cow - I'm just explaining why I won't go (to most places). Miso soup won't happen either. Maybe plain rice...but even then. I have pretty bad stomach problems the past year or two and at the moment I'm lucky if cornflakes don't hurt.
But I know sushi is very specific and some people really don't like it. That mongolian place is meant to be good tho (Suggestion for other people)

Steak and chips ftw. Really. Medium steak wins over sushi/noodles/fish/curry/rice/anything everytime.

Don't go on a date and both feel sick afterwards either. :pac:

Still love the place, and I've been back since, so was probably just a one off, but yoikes. ^^

And SP hope you're alright. Knew someone who had some pretty serious food allergies that she hated.

That and sushi = raw fish, and raw fish = recently alive fish, and live fish = pure evil. Bit too close for my likings :(

    Yamamori Rib-Eye Steak

Grilled fresh fillet of salmon served with stir fried seasonal vegetables and a sweet teriyaki sauce.
10oz prime rib-eye steak served with steamed baby pak-choi, sauteed mushrooms, baby carrots and mixed leaves with a soya, butter cream sauce.

    Common misconception.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sushi
In Japanese cuisine, sushi (寿司, 鮨, 鮓, sushi?) is vinegared rice, usually topped with other ingredients, including fish, various meats, and vegetables. Outside of Japan, sushi is sometimes misunderstood to mean the raw fish itself, or even any fresh raw-seafood dishes

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 25,871 Mod ✭✭✭✭Doctor DooM

Thats still fish Thaed, I don't do fish. :(

EDIT: They do beef teryaki, I am sold.

Sounds like me, i'm a very simple eater. Too complicated or foreign and i just don't like it much :p

That said the ramen in there is quite tasty.

The people who don't like fish/that place could just head to FXB's or something ;) *hopes*

Rainbow, if you want to organise this then trust me, as someone whose done loads of events by now, you're going to have to decide the event and the venue which you think suits best and stick to it. You will never, ever make everyone happy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,523 ✭✭✭✭Nerin

Just have whoever wants to go eat sushi go to this thing, and other people can organise other stuff. I just realised wednesday wouldn't affect me,as i probably wouldn't get there in time on a saturday :(

Eating raw fish for the first time with people i've never met?!.

Sounds like it could result in debauchery!!!.

I'm soooo in , as long as i can find my way up to dublin :).

I might be in, if I am still around Dublin at the time :)
