Linux distro for computer novice

Having recently used an Acer Aspire One laptop, I was impressed with its GUI desktop for its simplicity and ease of use and thought it would be ideal for my folks as they often get confused with XP.

So I found out the Aspire uses Linpus Lite. I downloaded it but I couldn't get it to run. Is there another distro out there thats similar to this in that it has the most simple desktop, access to advanced features are hidden, basically an environment that a complete computer novice could find their way around.

Ubuntu is considered one of the easiest by far - it's also got a very helpful forum community.

It's got really good hardware recognition as well.

They have done a remix for the eee pc, and it is suitable for the Acer:

Thanks for the links. I've installed Eee ubuntu. It's quite good but haven't been able to get my wireless card working on it yet. Once I do though I think I'll keep it for a while.

If you want something simple Fedora or Mandriva do the job. I find that Ubuntu is a bit more advanced than them. What do you guys think?

It's for a netbook though.
