Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Balls.. just after realising.. does anyone know if TheHut.com ship from Jersey or the UK?

For some reason, I think it's Jersey. Will be liable for customs if so! :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,517 ✭✭✭blobert

Hmm, just checked back in on this thread, didn't realise the price has gone up.

Regret not getting it earlier, it's up to about €390 now, will need Sterling to get a lot weaker:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,036 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Was wrong in assuming I'd be charged customs from Jersey.. but I could be charged VAT if it wasn't included in the price.

But after ringing TheHut.com helpline, I've been assured the prices on their site include VAT.

Glad to hear it. I hate buying something abroad and praying to the man upstairs that I don't get stung by customs.

Let us know how you get on with your netbook when it arrives. ;)

Am I right in thinking that dabs is currently the best priced for this at about €380 delivered?

Also what is the drive situation, just a standard cd drive or none at all?

    Cheers.

Yeah, i'm gettin' mine from dabs, seems the cheapest.

Theres no cd drive at all bro.

Is that not kind of weird?

I'm trying to think of something that might have to be installed on it but i can't think of an example, but just for the sake of it, "What If" something needed to be installed on it and comes on a cd, what can be done?:D

Most manufacturers let you download the software or a trial version. Just download that and enter your serial key. The only time I can think of using a dvd drive is for re-installing windows (even then I don't bother with the drivers cd and just download them) and the occasional time I have to burn something to a dvd.

Ah so it is, I was looking for a link to view prices without Vat, didn't notice it there.

Thanks for the heads up on the price, will try to order it from you tomorrow or wednesday.

You think they'll still be in stock (Black one)?

    Cheers.

Sorry, I actually thought you were joking on the first post. Many people don't notice the ex VAT price. :D

The Black NC10 is back in stock tomorrow and should show up on the website after lunch.

I've used the notify me on the website for this but will hopefully get to keep an eye on it after lunch tomorrow. Will be making a purchase tomorrow if it's available.

In case anyone is wondering, this netbook is awesome :) I have previously owned the Medion Akoya from Aldi (MSI Wind) and returned it because of the poor battery life. The battery on the Samsung gives around 6 hours with wireless on and screen set to half brightness, which is bright enough! It is stylish and very well built. For anyone who has never owned a netbook, buy this one and you will not regret it. Very portable and envied by anyone who sees it! Sorry for the rant, but it needs to be said :) I got mine last Thursday from Elara.ie and found them to be very courteous and helpful.

Thank God.. I've just heard back from TheHut.com telling me they're gonna fax me on invoices that clearly show I've paid VAT.

    HAPPY FECKING DAYS!

Mine on order from Elara wanted it local so it would be here sooner :D

As these are in competition with eee PC, and are designed for portability,
    I would expect integrated mic.
I find having to find & plug in a mic when a skype call comes in, very annoying,
    with my current setup.

EDIT: According to samsung there is an internal mic..
    I think it's time to purchase :-)

If things go wrong I wouldn't fancy being one of those guys who've bought it in the UK!

Bought from Dabs before and that was a hell of a nightmare to return it......not to mention that they never refunded me the delivery charges to send it back.

Meh.. you've as much rights buying it online here as you do buying it in the UK.

Postage fair enough.. but I'm in Sligo so would have to post it to Elara anyways! :D

    Good point. :-)

I guess that no everyone has Elara in a 10kms ratio as I do.

Really want to order this, but I was told because it's my Christmas and it's not December yet I can't. I've even told my mother how hard they are to come by but she wont listen!

    EDIT: Just ordered :D

Collected mine from Elara this evening. Excellent service! :D

Ehh this is showing up on the site as €299 now. It is £299 but when you change the currency to euro it stays at €299. It's obiously a mistake and I can't imagine they'll honour it.

I looked up some DVD's and selected both the sterling/euro prices. They changed to their respective prices but the NC10 stays at €299.

Have one on order, total came to €301.18.

I got an automated order confirmation, let's see if they honour it!

Anyone got a voucher code for thehut.com???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,036 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Was likely there would be a misprice considering they've been shifting around the prices of the NC10 on TheHut.com the last few days - as I noted here!

If they can honour my one (gotten at €312 with a voucher code), they may honour the misprice here!

I'm gonna have to unsubscribe to this thread as the price goes down. I bought at €369 from Elara.

I guess the upside is that I've had it for a week now :)

    Almost time to upgrade!

    Might get this badboy:

Why does the tread title say "misprice" ?, sterling is weak at the moment presumably the new price simply reflects that?
I got my order confimation anyhow :)

It's listed on the site as £299 but when you select euro it stays at €299, even though other items change price.
