You'll have to ask Garda HQ if that info is allowed in the public domain. I'm not printing it! Don't forget to factor in the specialised units aswell though, and not just the uniformed Gardai.
Fair enough I suppose, but for the purpose of your argument, I assume were only talking about uniformed gardi?
My question though, is appearance wise - Do people think that they are active enough or that more would be helpful?
Is a greater Garda presence needed for Killarney or a little less?
    Well,in short,they can be.
I know a few of them are stationed here as "Community guards" - they go around and talk to people, talk/deal with teenagers etc, But dont arrest them.
Others then that are always around, seems to be the same 4/5 walking through town or in the cars, they seem to create a bit of a presence alright.
Considering the size of killarney, I think we have enough guards tbh. Theres never anything major that would need more than we have, or even when there is, more are drafted in.

Most of my experience with Killarney Garda comes from late at night from when I used to do door work in Town. Personally, I think the numbers they have in town are just right. Not too many, so the town does not look like a trouble spot, but enough that the presence is there and that they can be there bloody quick if needed. The place I was working had a great working relationship with the Killarney station at the time.

this putting on lights mistake can happen to any of us, i have often driven away from a town which would be lit up, out the road and discover i had not put lights on, i have seen few doing it, it is just an honest error, garda are only human also, ordinary people doing a very hard job at times, we are all glad to have them when we need them, often they come upon car crashes where there are occupants dead, and they have the horrible job of knocking on next of kins doors, they take alot of ****e from people who repeatedly break the law over and over again, late at night when nightclubs close, busy weekends where people over indulge in alcohol,

very well said. Who here can say they've NEVER forgotten to put their lights on. I would consider myself a very careful conscientious driver and i've done it millions of times! There are exceptions to every rule but as a rule the gardai are an incredible bunch doing a thankless job and gud luck to em.

Do people think that their are too many guards in Killarney considering their wouldn't be as much trouble in the town as in previous years and that some could be re-deployed to places with less resources?
Have heard of quite a bit of trouble on weekends recently. There were 2 lads thrown through glass windows last weekend apparently and i heard of trouble last night and the night before. Generally though it is relitively peaceful.

I think they could do with more, To be more visible on the streets.
Killarney has a lot of bars and clubs so better to have the numbers there.

Get where you're coming from but at least it's an indian :)

Killarney doesn't really offer a great selection of fast food when you think about it - does anybody know where you could get a really good kebab or even pizza by the slice like Fast Als in Cork - there's money to be made after nights out like - Mikes, The Allegro & Den Joes are cleaning up I'd imagine.

Plenty of places to get a kebab in Killarney. (Well, 2, Mikes and the place down chapel lane (Past subway), and both are tasty).

Got sick of going to mikes tbh - been there way too many times at this stage! I'll try the kebab place down chapel lane - any idea what time it's open until?

    Sorry, Don't have a notion.

I know when it first opened, it was open late on Fridays and Saturdays, but I have only ever been in during the day in the last year or so.

I'd imagine it wouldn't get that much business late at night either what with it's location....before subway moved - they could've struck up a deal to both stay open - that could've increased business for both parties I'd say

howdy strangers. A customer of mine told me that Mixor owners are from Pakistan. He said he got a chicken kebab there, rather a lot of salad (isn't that normal?) but he thought the kebab and the chips were superb. Must check it out meself. Where exactly is it?

You know the roundabout on the Park road leading up towards Tesco / Deerpark / Etc? It's on that. It's part of the new commercial units at the entrance to Pinewood.

I think there is alot of money to be made there, i know that fast food can only taste so good, but considering that the Allegro make their own burgers and both their chips and Mikes' are handcut - you'd imagine the quality should be higher.

    Love Den Joes chips

Yup, apparently they're not made in-house, but are actually cut by the same company* in the killarney area.

*i think they aren't a "company" per se, but ya know what i mean!

    staying on food......!!

I see a new Restaurant on Quilles Lane - I think it calle itself 'Cafe'. A novel restaurant that allows you to:

    1. Bring your own wine &
    2. Pay for your food according to what you think it was worth!

    So.. no prices shown!

What do people think of that ???? Will they make money???? Novel idea though...was there a similiar concept a few years ago in Killarney?

and I tried the new outlet on the Park Rd roundabout - MIXORS I think it was called.

Had a nice Chicken Kebab with all the trimmjings, Cost €6.

Was lovely...if I could learn how to hold it together to get it as far as my mouth! Practise will make perfect. Very friendly and clean- soI will be back.

No is the answer i think. You have to think outside the box these days - but i don't see that working.

they (ie, it was in that building) had a concept similar to part 1 of your question before. and as for part 2 didnt the vanilla pod (off market cross) offer you the option to pay what you think it was worth??? blatantly open to abuse there, they cant PROVE that you didint think it was worth 2c :-)

i dont think it is a great idea, this paying what you think it is worth, they should have a starting price, a minimum you must part with if you have a meal, say a minimun for the starter, and also for the main and dessert, and say the coffee two euro, otherwise people will take advantage of them, after all these people are paying the wages of chefs, waitresses, washup, along with rent, electricity, insurance, heating and the food delivery,

Having a minimum starting price contradicts the entire practice and promotion/attention the business is actually getting by saying 'pay what you think it is worth'. I'm sure they would have done some research before embarking on this and I doubt it is indefinite anyways. It would be done to get some footfall in the door and sure even if a small percentage returns, then it could prove beneficial in the longer-term.

Walked down by the new restaurant where you pay what you believe the meal was worth - the town council should really go about putting better lighting there - Quills lane was pitch black and had a few young fellas drinking cans just down from there door - didn't look good for their business atall.
