My sister got a new Boiler installed 3 months ago. Basically it serves two functions it heats the radiators and gives instant hot water to the 3 tapes in the house. The problem is half way through a shower the water stops working for maybe 5 mins. It dosent happen all the time just sometimes but it very annoying. What could be causing this??

Thanks in advance for any replies

Will they charge for that? What could be the cause though. It only happens in the tap in bath which works the shower. Basically there is two taps when u turn on hot tap u get warm water straight away whereby the temperature is controlled by a thermostat on the boiler. Whoever if u turn on the cold tap while the hot tap is on the pressure goes very low. Now the problem is that with just the hot tap on by its own it will work fine for maybe 5 or 10 mins then stop completely for no reason. Does that sound loke a boiler problem

    Thanks again in advance

When you say the water stops, do you mean it stops running or it do you mean it runs cold?
is it a combi boiler or do you have a cylinder?
They may charge and they may not it depends on the manufactures

Sorry late reply. It stops runnung altogether. Then it may start again in 5 mins. rhere is two different thermostats on boiler one to control radiators the other for the water. What would stop it runnin? An airlock? Pump? Thermal overload? It dosent happen every time but maybe once in three times.

    Thanks for replies in advance

If it's a combi boiler it would need to be mains water fed which would allow a constant water supply, if you had a good supply. What some installers do is add a pump straight to the mains or if they do it right, there would be a break tank to store the water for your hot water, if the break tank is sized incorrectly then the pump will empty the stored water before you have finished showering and you then would have to wait till the tank refilled to get your water back, that is one reason for the fault but you would need to have it looked at, this is a water issue as there is nothing on the boiler to stop the flow of water so you will have to get the water supply checked, good luck, Gary.
