Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Around the edge of our site we are thinking of placing a timber post and rail fence. How much does thus typically cost per metre? The perimeter of the site is about 200m. Does it cost much extra to put in a wire mesh as well?

Also, what is peoples experience of planting the boundary with hawthorn? I have been told that this is quite good as it grows fast and thick. What are the other alternatives. How much do these cost?

    Hi Fitzie,

Got a post and rail boundry fense done about 3 weeks ago and was about 180 meters.

It cost me 1500 labour only. This is for 4 rails and 6 feet between posts. Didn't get wire mesh on it.

The wood cost 6 euro a post which were 4 inch square 6 foot and needed about 110.
Rail was about 6.40 euro each and these were 12 foot d rail and needed about 200 of these.

All in all cost about 3,500. Was painting it last weekend which is a pain but should have it finished this weekend if we get any dry days.

We put in a stock fence about 3 years ago ,only on 2 sides as we had ditches on 2 other sides. Had to fence about 115 metres long, it cost €700 . Local farmer gave me the contractors name. We then planted whitethorn and Field Maple along the fencing and Silver birches every 2nd post. Coming along fine, this next growing season should make a big difference, as we cut it back to encourage sideway growth this next season.
