Builder left double door width opening between
    kitchen and dining room.
Want to widen it as much as possible,
it is an external wall, dining room is an extension.
A steel girder(?) is above the door,
this would need to be replaced with a longer one
and some light switches and socket's would have to be moved.
    All work is internal.

    Big or small job?

Any idea how much and how long it would take?

    Thank's

Not a big job, more messy.

Making the steel longer might not be any good on its own, you'll have to make it bigger as well. Make sure you get it sized properly.

Everything else can be handled by the builder and an electrician.

This is a big(ish) job. You can't just swap an RSJ. Even if the one to be installed is the same spec the whole upper floor will need to be supported during the swap. This usually involves proping the upper wall with Acro's and intermediate RSJ's through the wall above taking the weight. Once the new RSJ is in and the ope is widened all thats left is patching by a plasterer and second fixing by a carpenter.
