The South African army should march in - would solve many problems but create a few more....

Subsaharan Africa probably needs to be restructured completely to take account of ancient pre-European tribal structures and modern economic realities rather than European types of political structures which do not work there.
Zimbabwe is not the worst off country at the moment if one considers the state of Somalia, DRC, Liberia and the oil-rich part of Southern Nigeria at the moment.
Also Chad, Sudan and Kenya are having trouble at the moment.
All of Africa needs to pull together like Europe had to do after World War 2 and sort something out.
Europe and its cultural relations, the Americans cannot solve this thing on its own and America is rapidly approaching the situation where it won't have the money to do so as it is losing economic power to China and the East.
I cannot see the Chinese wanting to give aid without something in return.
Africa will have to do it on its own. Once a stable government is in place with little or no corruption or waste, individual people can start to help the people of Africa with training, technology and education essential for their development. If left in peace, the continent is rich enough to support its people. All the famines etc are caused by war, lack of education etc..

You'd be surprised what China has to offer Africa. China has already made significant inroads in developing partnerships with many African states and unlike the West isn't bound by morality when selecting its partners.

Some interesting IT articles on the subject I bookmarked a few months ago:
