Hi I have been looking around and see all of people are modding their wii's. What is the purpose of this? Does it alow you to get more out of the console? also what site should I consider buying chips off? cheers, Ian

The fake answer is "it allows homebrew and stuff". The real answer is that it allows you to illegally download wii games and run them. Do not ask where (I don't do it myself)

It does depend on the console you're modding. If you take the original xbox, a lot of people turned them into media centres. Whereas if you take the Xbox 360, it's only to play illegal backups. So it's not all for playing backup games but a good chunk of it is.
