    Folks,

I saw the below (link below) 1995 Audi A3 car for sale for €18,895 and was wondering would it be a good deal. I am planning to view and possibly buy it this week. I would have cash upfront and wanted to know how much I should haggle for to get as much off the listed price as possible. I also have a 1999 Nissan Micra which has 60000 miles on the clock (Taxed and NCT til the end of next year) and is in excellent condition that i would be willing to trade in (but I was advised not to i.e I would be best of trying to sell it privately for around 1500). Also does anyone know anything about the reliablility and performance of these cars?

Its the older model, (i.e. not the bigger front grille). Seems very overpriced based on that? Maybe AudiChris is the best person for advice here!;)

The below Audi A3 is selling privately for €15500. I am not sure whether he would budge on that price also I would not have the peice of mind of warranty cover like the other one. With the other car i would be hoing to get a bit off with having the cash in hand and the possible trade in.

The one in that pic ain't an Ambition model - its the base spec (i.e. very basic, Audi style!) Attraction. I would say 18k is way over the odds for it. That 1.6 petrol is a bit of a dog too, it dates back to the early '90's, pretty unrefined and slow.

    Hi JoeA3,

What abouT this attraction car for under 20 grand. Would this be a good deal if I got a little more off the price?

€19k for a 1.6 A3 that is going to be 4 years old in a month's time is just comical.

OP does it have to an A3, they are very overpriced for what you get, really poor value for money.

If you don't need alot of space then €19k will get you a very nice MINI Cooper.

if you can stretch Billy this is the kind of thing I would go for if buying now. These are close to UK import prices as these guys do the work for you. You could do better yourself but not that much better. The 170 TDI feels incredibly powerful in a car like the A3.

They won't take trade ins though.

Or you could buy that one, which is higher spec, and keep the 2500+ for your warranty purpose's. If nothing goes wrong in the year, treat yourself to a holiday. Warranty can't be worth 2500-3000.

Mate, do not go near that:eek: They've been trying to sell that one since before the summer. Here is what I think might be a better buy

Ok, Granted it has a bit more mileage, but look how much cheaper (nearly 2k) & it is the ambition model with 6 speed & has leather interior and air-con unlike the one you were lookin at.
I had one of these and only sold it earlier this year, a lovely car.

By the way, my advice about the Micra, sell it privately. No garage will want to take that,(no offence intended).
Then go and make your offer for the A3.

Just out of curiousity, how does that make it a definite no?

    Well, FSI engine,115bhp against 102bhp normal 1.6, has air-con & leather.
Just has that bit more over the other one. Thats not to say there's anything wrong with the other one, its probably a perfect car. Just over priced a bit, thats all.
By having no trade in, the OP could get a decent bit more off the price again.
