Paiting Kitchen Presses

Hi can someone recommend what paint I'd use to paint the presses that I have in the kitchen. There's a white gloss on them at the minute... would I have to sand all of that off etc. and then paint over them. I'd like to get them a nice wooden colour but I think I'd have to use the paint and grain:confused:.. also If I was…
