Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I think I'm right here

The immaculate conception was the conception of Mary therefore she is the immaculate conception therefore Xavi's explanation of the "Hail Mary" was right.

i believe des' was basically assuming that Xavi meant that Jesus was the immaculate conception, when in fact he was not, mary was the immaculate conception & jesus was the virgin birth.

could be wrong but is the immaculate conception in reference to mary being born without original sin? or maybe i'm just confused.

why is it called a "hail mary"?

Is it not just that the chances of making the shot are so low that you'd better pray, ie say the Hail Mary?

    Wiki wrote:
A Hail Mary pass or Hail Mary play in American football is a term made famous when "Hail Mary" was used by the press to describe the game winning touchdown pass by Roger Staubach in the 1975 wild card playoff. It is now a common term often used to refer to any forward pass made in desperation, with only a small chance of success (colloquially speaking, it "has a prayer's chance"). The term Hail Mary pass is often used for any long completed forward pass thrown near the end of a game.
The phrase was brought to mainstream use in 1975 when the press described a game winning pass made by Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Roger Staubach in their 1975 upset win in the wild card playoffs, as a "Hail Mary". The phrase became popular after it was reported that Staubach stated, "I closed my eyes and said a Hail Mary prayer". [1] Prior to this such long ball desperation passes had been more commonly called by other names, such as the "Alley Oop".
While in 1922 it is reported that Notre Dame team said the "Hail Mary Prayer" in the huddle during a particular game, the use mainstream use of "Hail Mary Pass" to describe a long desperate pass at games end, came out of the 1975 interview with Roger Staubach to describe that particular "miracle" pass he made at game's end on December 28th 1975.
    :)

Anyone thinking of going to see The Wrestler this weekend?

I am actually looking forward to this more so than TDK. In any of the clips i've seen so far, Rourke seems to steal the screen with the way he became his character, and by extension, a reflection of what in reality is a horrible industry.

    Evenin lads.

I saw that thread when I first logged in. Imagined the same look on your face, as the one I make whenever Wor Kev gets a slating on here.

Seriously though, AH is like one big baiting troll. Most trends descend into piss takes and post/thanks whoring within the first page.

Rarely visit the place these days actually.

Good for him, the nosey bitch.

Some aul cnut ratted me out to the bus driver this evening, saying my iPod was too loud. The meddling bitch could have simply said something to me, rather than dragging the driver down to embarass.

Tell me about it. One of those old busy bodies, who probably rides the bus on a loop daily, just so she gets the use out of the OAP pass.

Seriously, I have no time for elderly cnuts who expoit their age. In fact, I would go as far as say that the elderly are the rudest, meanest, and most inconsiderate of all classes of passengers you'll meet on the bus.
