Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Weather = lose

Bottom half is a massive winner. I've never been sold on the top part though tbh. I think I must be the only one though.

Going on a holiday Visa :)
(And no, won't be working for cash in hand)

    I was on WHV.

You should deffo get one of them, instead of just the HV, in case you do decide to stay.

I wont be staying longer than the three months as college starts back in September.
And I don't want to waste my WHV now when I know I'll be doing the year in Australia sometime in the next 4 or 5 years.
How long were you there for?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 21,254 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dub13

Yeah, but he lives on the crap side of the country.

Australia is like Ireland in that respect.

    East Coast = deadly.

    West Coast = Shíte.

    Ah reet.

    A year

    then went to NZ

If you are going that far, I'd recomment NZ over Oz.

I liked Perth and the West Coast. Perth was a the best 6 week drinking session I ever had. Plus there are cool places up the coast like Monkey Mia, and Broome where you get six fee Abbo fights a night.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Well OZ is pretty much decided as I have family that can put us up in Perth, a mate who could put us up in Melbourne (wont be going there :pac:) and my mate has family that can put us up in Brisbane, which is where we'll be spending the majority of our time.

Think the plan is to fly into Perth, stay for a week or so, then over to Brisbane for the remainder of the three months.

I'm thinking 4000 Dollars would get me by. Opinions?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

    Abbo
Dude, that's a pretty racist term, ya know?

4000 dollars could be enough. But you will be on a fairly strict budget for the three months.

Why not go to Melbourne, or stay in Perth?

Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne won't have the best weather at that time of year either. Perth would be half decent, Darwin and Cairns better.

Used to being on a tight budget tbh...
Yeah we'll prob head up to Cairns from Brisbane for a week or so at some stage alright.

give yourself longer in perth, my favourite spot by far in oz. 4k should be enough once you dont go too mad.

i liked brisbane but i was working there. i dont think its a great holiday spot. good base though for going up and down the east coast. not too far to surfers or noosa.

road trip up to cairns via fraser island = win

I wouldn't bother head up to Frasar Island or Whitsundays alre. Then head down to surfers IMO or Byron Bay.

yeah i didnt think cairns was up to much but the white water rafting up at tully river is worth doing though. theres also the skydive over mission beach to be considered

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,908 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Brisbane itself sucks. Fraser Island is a must.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,608 ✭✭✭Spud83

I think what you should remember as well is that this won't be your only trip there as you are planning on doing the WHV visa later. So best is to go enjoy it, and do what you can but don't out spend yourself and end up cutting the summer/winter short

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Right well we'll have to rethink things if Brisbane is as bad as you guys think...
Fairly sure the other lads are set on it though. We'll see sure..

    Yeah, we'll take a break.

Does that mean the cinema is cancelled tonight, and I can actually watch the football?
