    virtualrandi,
The most common form of poker today is texas hold'em. The quickest way to pick up the basic format and structure of the game is simply by watching any of the late night poker shows that are common. As, every single one of these includes a beginners run-down of the game, (flop, turn, betting etc)

Once you have the basis of the game down, a good thread to pick up the more detailed aspects is The Poker Guide. This sets out the various ins and outs, dos and don'ts of online as well as live play. Further down will be a list of notable threads. These are anthing from arguements and ridic challenges, to solid theory threads.

A useful post to get over the confusion from first reading hand history and theory forum is this list of Poker Acronyms.

After that, any questions, no matter how silly you think they may be, can be asked in the New to Texas Hold'em thread

Finally, for general banter, poker related or unrelated. As well as any frustrating hands or beats, The bad beat and moaning sticky is always busy, and often controversial.

    Have fun.
