Utter arse frankly. In any case, your choice is between a whale and a skeleton? Few enough women are skeletons, far more are whales. This "curvy" notion is what gets me. There is anorexic, slim, actually curvy, fat, obese out there. Of that lot, slim or curvy fine in general from an aesthetic and health point of view. Personally I prefer those two as a general guideline. Frankly easier in practical terms to have sex with, never mind aesthetics. Of the rest? whatever floats your boat.

Sounds like pure nonsense and generalisations to me. And nobody is talking about having sex with a skeleton. It really irritates me when I hear some overweight women labelling a woman who is at the lower end of the healthy range as a stick insect or a skeleton. There are women who suffer from anorexia and end up scarily close to skeletons. So I don't think the word should be bandied about lightly when talking about a woman's weight. You've no idea what kind of self-esteem or body image issues a skinny woman might have. By labelling them as skeletons, you could be doing just as much psychological damage as labelling an overweight woman a whale.

Yes most men prefer healthy women. But it's not one extreme or the other. As Wibbs said, your choice isn't just between "whales" and "skeletons".

exactly to the two previous. Of the slim, toned category they would be the minority in the general population beyond the teens anyway. Same for men. A hell of a lot of men I know are packing chubb. I would say 70% comes close there too. If that started to happen with me I'd be doing something about it. Curvy is more common. Fat and obese is getting more and more prevalent though. It starts on the belly or bum and can pile on too. It's not all PCOS and other conditions either. If it is those things how come our grandmothers didnt suffer from it. Theres some research that strongly suggests its a chicken and egg thing. If you're fat you're more likely to suffer from PCOS and other ailments. 9 times out of ten its down to too much of a bad or wrong diet and not enough movement. Throw in emotional issues and that's why we're getting fatter. Emotional balance + eat far less of the right foods + move more = less fatties. It's not the rocket science people like to think or take refuge in.

yeah apparently in the breast and hip area women are 1.5% fatter than they were in the 40's. however in the stomach area they are 4.5% fatter.

which means sorry to say, but our women are uglier .

Read this thread just now with interest. Again, the same sickening attitudes of some people makes me wonder where this country is headed. Some of the comments made are appalling and cowardly, as most, if not all, would NEVER [hopefully] have the courage to say some of those things to a "fat" person. What one person deems to be fat, another may not. I have always struggled with my weight, but making a conscious effort [finally!]. I have a wonderful boyfriend who thinks I'M SEXY. Hard to believe, and I find it difficult to believe him myself. The comments & attitudes of some men on here would be extremely hurtful to anyone with a weight problem. It's pathetic really, seeing as it's doubtful they're very good looking themselves. Being a teacher, we try to teach children that bullying isn't just physical, it's emotional also - i.e. words can hurt. Anyone really that bullies another person is jealous in some way. FACT. So you just remember that the next time you come on here, albeit just an internet forum. People complain about the manners, attitudes, and behaviour of children nowadays, but there is little wonder when they are the offspring of people with narrow and childish attitudes like some Boards users.

don't mind them. a lot of boards posters are clueless, plus very lonely so they make up for this by posting crap on messageboards.

It's sickening that ADULTS should behave in this way. That's what annoys me. And because I'm a teacher and know that inevitably their children will more than likely have similar views! A 7 year old told me that Beyonce was hot! There's just no way that children should be exposed to this sort of carry on at such a young age. They're led to see women as objects that should be scantily clad, and perfectly toned. Whilst I admit that for the most part women in foreign countries are in better shape, Irish women may feel more inclined to get in shape if they had the sun to bare their beach bods every summer! I don't understand how people can feel okay coming here referring to overweight people as "fat heifers" and expect people to laugh and join in! That's like me saying I get a great laugh out of looking at people in wheelchairs, or people with huge burn marks on their face! If I did I'd be ridiculed, and rightly so!

Well, narrow minded people view people who are fat to be lazy, overeat etc etc and to basically have brought it upon themselves - i.e something that could have been helped, they are at fault, if they just didn't eat so much, or did more exercise..... Someone in a wheelchair who perhaps had been drinking, and then drove, resulting in a car crash and ending up paralysed could also be put into the same category of - it could have been helped, they are at fault, if they weren't drinking.... But yet they generally have supportive and sympathetic views and nobody would ever dare shout such abuse at them.
