Traffic Modelling

I've been given the task of writing a 5k word report in and giving a presentation in college on the topic of traffic modelling from a Civil Engineering point of view. We haven't been given any information on our topics and the main point of the assignment is to demonstrate our ability to write a report and deliver a presentation on a topic. That asside, I'm wondering if anyone knows any good sources of information or interesting case studies I could have a look at to help me along? Everything I've found so far has been very technical. While I won't be graded on the subject material of the report and presentation I'd still like to learn a bit about the topic in question while I'm at it.
Thanks for any help at all ;)

try TRL's web site (for information on picady oscady and arcady) and PTV's web site for infomration on VISSIM.

These are some of main tools used on traffic modelling and you'll probably use them in college
