Bitter out and about here in skerries. Looks more unstable than yesterday. Hoping for a shower or two later. I've retired to a pub because there's only so much cold you can take. Think we got that temp rise last night also. Temps rose during the evening about a degree and a half. After about one am they went back below zero and thereveas a fair bit of white frost this morning.

green123, if you like to learn something, just ask a question and stop trolling.
You may have a slight point in what your saying about sensationalism but in fairness to anyone who predicts any certain weather type/event is really going by what the models he/she is looking at. If it was the case where someone is making a hyperbole thread, well then i would disaprove the thread and stop it dead. I don't have to do this at all.

Tbh it is good to talk, it is good to read, if for whatever reason myself or the next person thinks the basics is not there in that particular forecast or prediction by all means we can mention it and vica versa. Criticising or telling people there wrong is a no go around here, 99% on here would know not to take every forecast by the professional or predictions from posters that contribute to this forum as been a 100% accurate.

It's a science and is not fully understood yet.
If you would like to post on this forum and ask a question go ahead but if you continue to criticise in the manner your doing, i will have no hesitation in making sure you only read this forum from the outside and never post here again.

    Thanks.

A few showers beginning to develop in the Irish sea.

Models indicate some shower activity along the east coast from around 10pm.

The fax chart for tomorrow night is great for here. Those Irish sea showers seem to be well out to sea unfortunately, don't think they'll make it here.
Absolutely dreading the drive into and from work this week as am on nights.

sure dont worry about that black briar, never let the truth get in the way of a good story

over excited i would say and thats the problem.
i want to read some realistic discussion, like i can read on other forums on boards

Something tells me that you don't seem to understand the vagaries of the Irish weather.I rarely post on this forum, but I take a keen interest in it and weather charts due to the nature of my work. - the past week has had miore changes in published charts than a new baby's nappy. Last Sunday it was anear certainty that a lot of snow would fall this weekend, but on monday morning it had changed, and again monday afternoon & again Tuesday.

This morning the charts showed that a mild settled spell would arrive next weekend, but this afternoos charts are showing it to be not overly settled.

that's why every few hours people have different opinions on what is going to happen and its why so often even the paid experts get it wrong.

possibly at the back end of the front, though more likely the snow will be confined to high ground to the north and north east:(

Hey Supercell. Would these fax charts deliver snow to many parts. I feel that the cold air is going to be very hard to shift. Absolutely freezing here in the south east today, and in the last few hours increasing clouds from the east.

The line of showers just south of the Isle of Man seem to be developing quite well. If the wind just turned a bit more to the east it would be great. :)

Probably only at elevation and in the north would be my guess, but there is a lot of cold air over the country which might cause a few surprises, but wouldn't bet on it.

Yep, the cold air really has become embedded over the country, and it may prove harder to shift than the models are suggesting.

Is next weekend forecast to become cold again?:)

Whats the chances of seeing some snow over Donegal over the next few days???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,498 ✭✭✭Mothman

Note M2 bouy in Irish Sea is reporting Dp +2.9C and air temp of 6.6C.
This is the air that will be dragged in with the showers in the east. While this air won't get dragged inland far, neither do I think will the showers.

I'm not expecting anything wintery tonight.

Same here. anyway, according to M.T Cranium(who specialises in long-range forecasts) we are in for a cold December overall, so we are bound to see lying snow at some point:)

Looking interesting for tonight and the next few days.

Surprised by the lack of interest in the 12z.

Three key times for possible snow.

Tonight and into the morning along the eastern and southeastern coasts there will be a number of sleet/snow showers that could leave a lying in some areas. Hopefully temperatures dip low under the clear skies this evening but i'll be up watching the radar tonight!:D

Tomorrow night is another interesting with the timing perfect and wind direction offshore so i really expect many areas to see a little snow from this front, expected to arrive in Dublin around 2am... perfect!

Then a real big chance from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, could be a good fall of snow from Dublin -- Galway northwards, this need to be watched very closely!

    All in all looking good.

Tonight will be the first lampost watching night of the season:D

as you see he is a knowledgeable contributor to this forum. His research has led him to predict a stormy period for the middle of December so it will be interesting to see if that materialises.

Sounds great Weathercheck, but do you expect much snow to affect southeastern areas tonight? :)

Don't know, we'll have to see, maybe be abit mild along the southeast coastal areas though for proper snow, more sleet/hail/rain here.

Ok, thanks a million. How about inland south eastern areas about 80m above sea level. And how would these areas fare out tomorrow night in your opinion? GFS seems to be suggesting a snow risk...

Yep they seem to be traveling down the center of the sea.
