Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

no one's attacking him for the yellow on ronaldo for the handball

the first one was never a yellow

    rafael's was never a yellow

it's his over all performance has been terrible

    IN YOUR OPINION.

I think he's been fine. And, crucially, I imagine this performance will be adjudged as standard by his refereeing review committee.

F88k it, he's gone. Intentionally handballed it. No matter what he heard, whether he deserved the first one or not. He deserved the card for being a git.

Meanwhile, worried that United are getting pushed off the ball right now.

Plus giggs is coming on. Not happy - why not anderson??

because fletcher and carrick are playing well?

ON the off chance Giggs shows some of his experience and calms things down when we have the ball.

Absolutely. But if Berba needs to come off. Why not leave Rooney up top and put some more lungs in midfield where we are getting hurt..

Carrick booked, United could yet lose another player.

How's it looking anyway? City all over us, who have we brought on to replace?

Better than you think , Alot of ball been lost in their half to be expected, not great pressure and Utd look a bit dangerous on the break just a lack of bodies in these breaks.Pressure will build imo 5 MINS COME ON

Can anybody tell me what the assistant ref gave a foul for there? What the ****?

because giggs will bulk up the defending on the wing and offer a good outball

carrick fletch and anderson would leave rooney with little or no support

wtf did anyone else see that free against rafael ?? thats bizarre ....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Giggs is playing up front, as to be expected. We're playing 4-5-0

yep i want to see young kids getting carded for nothing every week and then not carding someone for doing exactly the same thing 5 mins later

shows them who's boss early on

Michael Carrick is the player that Elano so desperately wants to be. Dominated central midfield today. My man of the match.

Yes but what we need is cool heads now. And just some concentration for the last few minutes. Anderson would not bring that, he would come on all action and prob cause problems.

what i mean is that even though it was an intentional handball, he wasnt trying to get an advantage with it, its clear that he heard something and stopped playing, why else would he do it?As stupid as he is, he aint thst stupid.

    He did hear something.
He went into the press booth after to watch the replay.
He insisted he heard a 'beep'

And to be honest I gotta believe him, there's no other reason he'd do what he did.

Well City, time to see what you are all about now.

    Not a whole lot then.

Cool. No shape or purpose in the last twenty minutes. If Hamman had been on it would have been a huge help I think. Elano was pretty awful.

United had far too easy a time of it when they went down to 10 men.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 605 ✭✭✭ghouldaddy07

brilliant wish he had gotten that.

Fantastic performance from United today, fantastic. Utterly dominated the game beyond belief, even when we went down to 10 men. Pressure on Chelsea and Liverpool now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,608 ✭✭✭Spud83

3 points decent performance both in the first half and when we had to battle in the second.

    Carrick MOTM for me.

I will now run away and let this thread descend into the Ronaldo is an idiot v The ref is an idiot debate.

No idea what the hell Ronaldo was doing there. But there's no way anyone could construe that as Ronaldo trying to manipulate the ball into the goal. It wasn't subtle in the slightest. No idea what he was doing. Absurd and it could cost us.

Had to go, silly, silly boy. Wayne Rooney sends over a corner from the right and Cristiano Ronaldo leaps, mis-times his jump, and pats the ball out of play with his hands. He's very, very upset, but deliberate handball, he had to go. A strange moment.

Sounds like Ronaldo was in total control of that 2nd yellow and knew he would be off.

    Get in there. :)

Red card aside delighted we got the result not just for the points but after they beat us on the munich anniversery I really wanted a result against them.

I guess I was expecting too much when I thought this would be a good spectacle between two evenly enough matched sides. Meh, Utd were by far the better team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Jeff summed it up. You get booked if you were seeking to gain an advantage. Ronaldo was clearly not seeking to gain an advantage. That's that.

They just showed a replay again there. The whistle comes about a second or so after he handles it.

I'm sorry, were you watching it? Or are you dismissing it based on what BBC text says?

    Carrick MOTM for me.
Yep. No razz-ma-tazz or theatrics. Retained possession brilliantly. Passing and crossing was second to none.

Like I said, he's everything that donkey Elano wants to be.

There's a really loud foghorn that goes off just before and during.
That's all I can think of it being...

I dont care about Ronaldo .

I care about beating City after last seasons results. I care about the excellent performances by Roon, Park, Evra, Rafa, Rio , Vida, & for me MOTM Michael Carrick.
