Sean Kelly will be running in Euro-South constituency for Fine Gael. Aparently a tif has begun between the party and incumbent Fine Gael South MEP Colm Burke. Burke wasnt elected anyway, rather having replaced Coveney, so there wont be too many tears.

Kelly will probably pick up a lot of votes from independant, imo, due to his high profile. The fact that he brought reform to the GAA will probably be of help.

The question is whether Fine Gael can risk putting two canditates up. If it worked maybe Sinnot would get dropped (heres hoping), but if it failed it would be disastrous.

    Isn't he Mrs Kenny's cousin?

He'd have to be coming up with a lot more than a GAA track-record for me to vote him on the gravy-train. I agree with you on Sinnot, she should be dropped, but not by a parcel of GAA afficionados voting the other other guy in simply because of his past.

Obviously not, but the fact they he was a leader in getting Croke Park opened to soccer and rugby may be an indication of open mindedness.
